The beds and bedding was clean and beds comfortable

The unit was advertised as a two bedroom apartment for up to six people, however in the small print it states there may be an extra charge for more people. On arrival we informed the landlord that our daughter may stay over for a few nights but we would inform him accordingly. He then informed us that the cost per night would be 25GBP as this would be for the extra cleaning. The condition and cleanliness of the whole flat was extremely poor , the top oven had sticky food and hadn't been cleaned making it unusable. The shower in the bathroom was in a poor state with no bathplug, the shower was held together with a rubber band and the bath was badly chipped. In the second bedroom the drawer was crammed full with rubbish and was therefore unusable, first bedroom was unclean with food under the bedside table and the bed itself and there was a hole in the ceiling. Paint was peeling throughout the apartment and several cracks were visible. Outside balcony was dirty with a rusty table and a dirty old mop and bucket was just left there. Photographs of the condition of the unit were sent to the owner on 15 August and we requested to discuss these issues later that evening. The owner was not interested in the condition and cleanliness issues and claimed that it was "acceptable". After avoiding our concerns he asked for credit card details for the deposit of 200GBP (which were immediately given) and asked how many nights our daughter had stayed. I have to admit that at this stage I made the error of telling him that she hadn't stayed because I felt that we should be able to negotiate the price of the 'extra" person against the poor condition of the unit and I agreed to pay and extra 125GBP. At this stage he became very threatening and rude and called me a liar and full of deceit and that he would evict us that same night. He then told us that he had cameras in the unit that would prove our daughter had been there.

"A charming apartment."

There was good communication with the owners of the property and the flat was easy to find. Everything was provided for our stay, including a few kitchen essentials. The neighbourhood was quiet and friendly. The flat was charmingly decorated.

There were a few things that needed attention. The toilet took a few attempts to flush properly, the kitchen blind was permanently closed, the spare toilet rolls needed to be located in the bathroom itself and the clothes hook in the main bedroom needed to be put up.
