Puffin Way - Comfortable, spacious house with parking

The very quick response from the hosts , who sorted out any problems we had.

The kitchen facilities need urgent upgrading. Pots and pans are burnt through and have no lids. Only one huge knife for cutting as well as a bread knife. Smaller cutting knives would be very useful. Some of the crockery was filthy. Dishwasher not working, so had to hand-wash everything. One of the bedrooms had an old used towel, water bottle and earplugs under it. A thorough clean would have been better.

The area is not bad. It is a newly built neighbourhood, with a little convenience store around the corner. The houses are quite nice, it is pretty quiet. But unlike other guests, we had a terrible experience in this apartment.

We found a dead rat in the garden, flies all over. We immediately informed the property manager, but it lasted 4 days before it was removed. It is not only disgusting, it is also quite dangerous having 2 kids who'd liked to play in the garden. Furthermore, the kitchen floor was sticky, most walls are smudged, the fridge was clearly not cleaned, the windows were very dirty, there was hair&dust behind the couches and there was a dirty sock in the boiler room. And lastly, a heavy set of blinds fell on my head when I tried to open the window. We informed the property manager after 4 days that we wanted to leave as we did not feel comfortable here, given all of the above. We kindly asked for a refund for the remaining 5 nights. But they declined, they only wanted to pay a refund if they were able to re-rent it to someone else. And they claimed they never got the chance to rectify our complaints. But they did get 4 days to rectify a dead rat. And smudged walls and fallings blinds? How would you rectify that. The property managers apologised and kept saying they were too small a company to handle these things immediately and on weekends. Frankly, that is not my problem. If you pay 200 a night for a property in Reading UK, you should be able to expect a little more than this.

The communication team is excellent, very responsive, helpful and understanding. The spacious two-floor town house have 2.5 toilets, great when you have 6 people staying. Beds are comfortable. I liked the dining room and living room are separated with their own door. It created kids playing space and adult chatting area. Kitchen has sufficient kitchen utensils, cutlery, plates and cups. The neighbour is very quiet, clean and safe. There are a small bistro with very good breakfast and wonton noddles :) and a convenience store, just couple minutes walk. The location is great, many interesting points are within 2 hour drive. Hopping to the train to London Paddington station is less than 30min. The stay has bus connecting to town or approx 10GBP taxi ride. Nearby traffic is not too busy, we haven't experienced traffic jam in the area. Happy to pick this town house.
