Elmdale Hut - Shepherds Hut

The Hut was very well thought out and equipped. Extremely cosy and snug on a grey, damp weekend. We were visiting family and it was very convenient for popping in and out. Bed was wonderfully comfortable. Delightful welcome touches and basic starter supplies - all much appreciated.

There was nothing that we didn't like. We had a slight problem with the thermostat for the shower but the water was hot and plentiful for the most part.

The hut is beautiful, warm, and clean and would be great for a short (in height) couple that wanted a cute room to stay in. The cookies were a nice touch.

I hated that the hut was on the hosts driveway. It felt very intrusive and uncomfortable being literally steps away from their front door. There was absolutely no privacy. The parking was awkward having to have street parking on a different road and the hut was too small for my tall and claustrophobic husband. This is not a place for a family trip, and yes it is not advertised as such, but when I messaged the hosts about it, they should have been honest and said there isn’t room comfortably for a travel cot. It was not safe for my 1 year old to be in there where the travel cot had to be against the sink and the oven. We booked another hotel on the spot and did not stay the night. It felt like I’d booked an air BnB. I expected better from a property on booking.com.

Comfy and perfectly set up. Tea and coffee much appreciated with the cookies.

Clean, comfortable and the host has spent a lot of time getting the details right.

Little bit of a draft from the window but it was winter . The hut rocked a bit when we got a bit energetic in the bed which gave us giggle 🙈.

Nothing to not like

Such a cosy shepherds hut, just what I needed for a bolt hole for one night. I loved the wood burner. And the hut has everything you need, it is well designed.

There is quite a bit of noise from the road, but if you have music on and close the curtains, it was easy to forget!

Beautifully decorated and designed. I loved the mini log burner and coffee machine. The shower was great and it was all very cosy and clean. I will definitely revisit!

The spotlights were too bright for me me in the evenings. A small lamp being available would've been great!
