The World Famous Henderson House

Unfortunately this property doesn’t live up to its world famous status as claimed in its title. We stayed for 3 nights and wouldn’t recommend staying here. The pictures give a lovely ideal of the property but unfortunately they are either very outdated or cleverly angled. There was lots of mould, damp, crumbling plaster, grossly dirty mattresses. It really does need a good overhaul to bring it up to any standard close to what it is being advertised as. We did contact the owner as pictured and named on many posters around the house who actually claimed she wasn’t the owner when we shared our dislike. We were reimbursed £50 due to the poor state of the property which was offered by the owner and not requested by us as guests. Upon the refund of the £50 I had an email to say that the owners had told booking.com we hadn’t shown up at the house. I feel something underhand is going on with house this house is being run and having read many of the reviews since staying there I feel many others feel the same. Lots of promises of beds and fixtures being replaced or added upon complaint when in actual fact a similar type of review has appeared over many platforms spanning years so either they replace the beds, sofas and bathrooms on a very regular basis or they are fibbing to their reviewers in hope that future possible holiday makers will think all is changed and it is all in a new condition, which alas it is not. I am not happy that I am now being chased for £50 for a no show fee even though we have conversed with the owners, paid in full and actually turned up to the property. Very sneaky and underhand from the owners.

Location was perfect if you wanted to visit Anfield!

It was a bit run down but did the job!

Communication with the hosts is excellent and I really do hope they take on board and fix the challenges within the home. The house is a perfect location for Anfield stadium and takes away any stress on planning travel or parking at the stadium. The kitchen is very well equipped and preparing and cooking meals is hassle free. Parking is plentiful on the road outside of the home. The welcome gift was a pleasant surprise.

The bathroom is in desperate need of replacement. The bathtub has several areas of enamel missing and it’s not possible to take a bath. Additionally, it is challenging to get into the bath for a shower and a handrail would make the world of difference. The shower curtain has mould on it in several places and the toilet is not fixed properly to the wall leading to real anxiety that it will come away from the wall every time you use it. The stairs carpet is dirty and in need of a clean.
