Georgia's Studio

Posizione con panorama eccezionale, ampio spazio esterno, presenza di tutte le suppellettili necessarie al soggiorno, acqua corrente, Studios corredato di biscotti, caffè (tre tipi), zucchero, miele, marmellata.

Il letto troppo morbido, ma dipende dai gusti di ciascuno.

L’appartamento si trova su per una stradina di circa 1 km partendo dalla spiaggia di Kato Zakros (fattibile anche a piedi), in posizione molto molto tranquilla. La stanza è carina, però davvero piccola. Credo vada bene per soggiorni brevi. Bellissima la terrazzina vista mare e i mici. Buona pulizia.

Most travelers will arrive in Crete through Chania or Heraklion, then either drive or get a bus eastward. They might do as I did and hop to Agios Nikolaos, then to Sitia, and finally will travel further east to the small town of Zakros. At that point there are two ways to the village of Kato Zakros; either a short drive or a hike through the Gorge of the Dead. The Gorge is not particularly long but the ground is covered in loose rocks, which means every step must be carefully taken and you must be physically apt with good mobility. For the love of God, make sure you and your friends wear good boots with ankle support. I took the hike on a nice breezy day. The Gorge of the Dead is where the ancient Minoans of the region laid their dead to rest — and if you go there on a quiet day you'll understand why. It is a place of introspective peace and quiet. I arrived at Kato Zakros around noon, finding a very quiet and peaceful village in the process of preparing itself for the approaching tourist season. The studio was atop a hill, with an absolutely stunning view of the village, the Minoan ruins of Kato Zakros, the olive groves and the sea. Georgia welcomed me with food and drink, and her hospitality was so great that during my stay I even had lunch with her and her family. The studio is a cozy, compact home with a small kitchen and spacious bathroom, and a bed with some kind of magical capacity to induce incredible sleep. The whole place gives off a sense of peace and quiet that cannot be conveyed with words. After crossing the Gorge of the Dead all the problems and stresses of life back home are so far away. The insanely wealthy burn small fortunes building excessive homes that cannot give the sense of peace that Georgia's studio gives. Plus the combo of Gorge of the Dead + Georgia's Studio + Minoan Palace + Beach is the kind of thing psychologists should seriously consider a high tech therapy method.

Georgia's Studio sits atop a hill with a stunning view, which is great and all, but you either have to walk or drive uphill. Physics is cruel like that. If you have a car it shouldn't be an issue at all but if you're walking it's some extra exercise.

Really nice and helpful host. Wine, jam, bread and raki gifted on arrival as well as fruit. View over looking Kato Zakros bay very nice as well as the proximity to the 'Gorge of the Dead'. Room very well equipped and had everything we would need. We stayed in February and the heating during a cold spell was adequate.

Just for information. Don't follow your GPS or Google Maps to Kato Zakros by the "off-road" route. This is a bad idea, espeically if you're renting a car, instead continue past the left turn and follow the 'new' asphalt road direct to the village itself. The last 100m is off road but much better than the other way which isn't ideal for cars.

The accommodation was great, we had everything we needed. The sea view was perfect. The hostess was amazing, we even got Christmas dinner.

Nothing.

The view of the water from the terrace makes it! Lovely sitting area outside. We ate most of our meals there. Also friendly owner Georgia and her charming gaggle of well-cared for cats. Well-equipped with coffee maker, panini press, pots, small oven and stove-top.

A little tight for two adults but you just have to be tidy! Could use an over-stove exhaust fan to remove moisture from cooking.

I liked it a lot. Giorgia ist very sweet and helpful. The viel is fantastic and if you like cats, you will always have nice company:) Perfekt place if you search for quietness, great nature and even culture(the Minoan Palace).Hope to come back soon!!

The room is tiny, but nothing really was missing: there was plenty of space to store our luggage. Everything that we used worked fine, from WiFi to the shower. The location was great, close to the Gorge of the Death (which is a great place to visit for some hiking), facing the sunrise in the morning. The beach and the restaurants aren't far either.

There isn't really anything that we didn't like. Perhaps the only thing that should be mentioned is that the premises are situated in the old Zakros road which can be tricky in some points as it's a narrow and largely metalled road (non-asphalted).

Nice room with a great view. It’s a bit further up the hill than some others places but this means the view is better. Could be a small for some people but we found it was fine for us two.
