Villa Marilena

We specifically picked this location because of its position relative to the island: it's very central, and we had 2 rental cars with which we got around quite easily. Corfu is rather small, with winding mountain roads, but you can get to the top beaches (most of them on the Italian / West side) really easily by car, so this villa was perfectly situated for us. The owner, Filippos (Marilena's son) was very, very helpful. He sent us a fantastic list of recommendations in PDF format before we got there. It had the top beaches, restaurants, cafes and special places to visit, and they were excellent (especially the snorkeling beaches, which were very fun, with Paleokastritsa being the most famous and the best equipped with everything you might need). We barely managed to get through half of them in a week, so that's more than enough reason enough to come back next year. Near the villa, there is a very nice coffee and pastry shop (almost next door), a shop and a pharmacy 200m away, a few bars and restaurants within walking distance. These were also highlighted in the guide Filippos sent us. The villa itself was spacious, clean and had everything we needed, from comfy beds, dishwasher to a full kitchen and outdoor grill area, which was fabulous and allowed us to cook and spend a few enjoyable nights together as a group, when we didn't have the energy to go walking about in Corfu Town (Kerkyra). I thoroughly recommend this place, and it's very likely we'll book it again in the future.

The villa itself had only one very small issue: if you left the windows and doors closed the whole day while away at the beach, after you came back, it would smell a bit off (probably some small parts of it are a bit moldy), but we solved this by leaving windows open when we were away (especially in the bathrooms) and using the air conditioning when we were inside (which is a must in the hot August days and nights). We had a small issue with the smart door lock whose battery went out and locked us out at some point, but Filippos promptly helped us with the backup keys found in a lockbox next to the door, and after charging the smart door lock, everything got back to normal, so apart from a few minutes of confusion, everything was fine in the end. The internet (Cosmote 2G/3G probably) wasn't that great at all (it wasn't broadband, or didn't seem like the 1Gbps / 10Gbps connections we're used to in Romania), but I don't think you can find much better internet anywhere else on the island, really. Even general mobile service is quite bad or non-existent in some more remote or mountainous areas. The worst part was that while visiting the north parts of the island, we failed to turn off our mobile data and our carriers switched to Albanian networks, and a few of us got charged LOTS of money due to the fact that Albania is not in the EU and its Internet tariffs are enormous. So be wary of this and make sure you take precautions in turning off mobile roaming data when visiting the North of Corfu that is very close to the Albanian coastline. But this wasn't anyone's fault but ours, and the fact that we're spoiled with huge Internet speeds shouldn't reflect at all on the rating of this property.

It would be nice to have a swimming pool :)

The house was so good. Everything was with style. Very useful. All house accesories were excellent. The landlord was very helpful and ready to make our stay very comfortable

Me and my girlfriends had the best experience in Villa Marilena. The owner Filipos helped us before we arrived until we left. He was truly one of the best people I have rent from. Really good service, he even helped me plan my friends bachelor-weekend. While arriving he also surprised us with some prosecco and cake in the fridge. I have been travelling a lot but it’s the first time I really take my time to give my recommendations. I would defiantly go back and recommend Villa Marilena to anyone. The house was clean, beautiful and my friends even said it’s more beautiful than the pictures. Thanks to Filipos for your hospitality

If you're looking for a perfect house to spend your vacation with your friends in Corfu book this house. Filippos is the best landlord you could find, always on time and available for any request and help. The house is very modern and clean. The garden is one of the main strong point of the house, where you can have a perfect atmosphere for a dinner with friends. The position is very strategic for main beaches, supermarkets and discos for nightlife.
