Beautifully designed home close to the central area of Heraklion, about 15 minutes from the airport. Air conditioning on both levels and tiled flooring so very cool. Little courtyard with an ash tray if you smoke and had a neighbourhood cat hanging around too! Bedding was comfortable, shower had good water pressure and the kitchen facilities were small but perfect for what we needed. The host was very communicative and friendly and answered any questions we had super quickly!

The door was occasionally a fiddle to open with the key but once you figure it out it’s smooth sailing!

The location was fantastic - close to the man square, the Archaeological Museum, port, KTEL bus stop and great cafes and restaurants. There is a great mini market next door - lovely owners and perfectly stocked. The apartment exceeded our expectations. Furthermore, if you have an interest in mid 20th century modern architecture this apartment is absolutely gorgeous - it was like being in a beautifully detailed, minimal film set - designed by the architect with great taste and style. We loved it and enjoyed all the wonderful books and magazines that were available to us to peruse. Also Anastasia who managed the apartment was very gracious and accommodating in allowing us to access the apartment early due to our very early flight/arrival.

Like all places nothing is perfect (the position of the fridge, if you really want a washing machine you won't find one - although there is a laundry mat close by - and the locks get a bit of getting used to) but this was not a problem for us. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The most interesting and intriguing place we have ever had the opportunity to stay in during our travels so far. It looks like it was taken straight out of the 70s where a wealthy architect creates his space for living, working and enjoying life. The whole apartment is a two-level complex of high standard, where you can still see unusual equipment, architectural plans, books and magazines testifying to the rich history of this place and its (I assume) original owner. The cherry on the cake is a small private garden (which is quite unusual considering that it is the very center of the city) where you can spend time drinking ice coffee and enjoying breakfast. There was even an awesome stray cat who kept us company during our meals, as long as we shared something with him ;) In addition, it must be said that the contact with the owner and his willingness to help (in our case, allowing us to check in earlier and leave our luggage) is at the highest level and deserves a mention in my review. He also recommended us a fantastic restaurant where we had a delicious dinner. Additional information - the apartment is located in the very center, about 5 minutes walk from the historic Venetian Port. Next door there is a small grocery store, and a few minutes further a large market. About 10 minutes away there is also the Archaeological Museum.

The door at the entrance of the polykatoikia (apartment building) was not easy to open with our key.

One of the most beautiful and unique properties I have ever stayed in. It's in the best location if you want to explore the city centre.

There isn't anything I didn't like.

It is a huge apartment with a lot of free space to move in, ideally located in the center of the city, offering all that you need for short or longer a stay in Herakleion. It is large enough for accommodating a family of four. In addition it has a nice private garden, with no access to the street and as a result it is very quite. It is not recommended for older persons or persons with moving disabilities, though, because of the stairs that connect the different levels. I appreciated very much the tasteful decoration and also the existence of a big variety of books and architectural magazines. I also appreciated very much the fact that there were big supplies of bottled water, coffee, evaporated milk, tea, toilet and kitchen paper etc, and that it was not necessary for us to rush to a super market to buy these necessary things.
