The Grand Budapest View

very nice apartment In really center of Budapest. very close to transportation, restaurants and pubs.

When we first arrived at 9pm we were a little concerned as the appartment is in an old delapidated building with bars on most doors. But as soon as you open the door to the appartment it's a totally different story -it's a spacious modern and well equipped appartment, better than we were expecting. Fortunately, as it was 35 deg C, there are 3 air-con units, one for each bedroom and one in the kitchen/living area. The matresses are very comfy, the towels are thckand the bathrooms are also great quality. There are other nice touches as well - a large bit of ornamental log next to the stand alone bath, a statue and 2 plants. The blinds for the lounge and master bedroom are electric roller shutters and work very well. pity about the curtains in the 2nd bedroom. The location is also fantastic, a stones throw from the main underground (Metro) station, train station, tram stops and bus stops. The main pedestrian zone with high street shops also a couple of mins walk away, or a beautiful square infront of a huge church packed with bars and restuarants, all leading to the banks of the Danube. Or even closer, come out of the building and turn immediately right and you have endless bars and restuarants down alleyways leading to the ruin bars. So a great appartment in a great location in a grotty building, but you soon realise a lot of the buildings are still run down, it's part of the charm. Coffe machine and pods also a bonus and small supermarket very close.

Curtains in 2nd bedroom about 6 inches off the wall so entire room full of daylight by 5.30am. Friday night (and to a lesser degree Sat night) quite loud music from what I presume was a club below until 6am. Wouldn't wake you up, but might stop you from getting back to sleep. Frying pans seen better days, but rest of utensils very good.
