Hilltop Seaview Apartment

We loved the location. The instructions given to us by the hosts on how to get there and access the property were very clear and helpful. We also liked how easy it was to park close by and appreciated being able to park in the hosts driveway when there was space. We loved the fast wifi and enjoyed different movies on the smart tv. We LOVED seeing the doggies and enjoyed the cuddles they gave us on our way out one morning!! <3

Unfortunately the first impression we had was negative as we arrived at the property late and tired after a long travel and on a cold night, only to find the window open and the heating off. It was beyond freezing inside and we couldn’t do anything other than keeping our coats and scarfs on and stand by the radiator hoping to warm up. As mentioned, the heating was off so we had to turn that on ourselves and wait for it to warm up. Everything was damp in the bathroom. The first night we went to bed freezing and it took us ages to fall asleep because of that. We totally understand that it doesn’t make sense to keep the heating on all day but if the hosts had asked us about our ETA, they could have maybe put the heating on for us and closed the window (!) shortly before we arrived. The damp smell in the cupboards was another thing that affected us as all the cups and mugs and plates reeked of that smell even after we washed them all up. It wasn’t great at all to have coffee while simultaneously inhaling the damp smell out of the mug. The cordless blinds on the windows looked very dirty and had rust spots all over which wasn’t pleasant to touch or look at.

Great size and location. The Host, Ian, was very approachable and went out of his way to help us.

Nothing it was perfect for our stay and the pets are very friendly my daughter loved them

Location was good and hosts friendly and welcoming, good to have parking on site. The bed was very comfortable. The views would be great in the right weather! We liked the 3 excitable and friendly dogs - although some guests might not!

The room really needs somewhere to hang clothes eg a wardrobe. There is just a very shallow chest of drawers which is only really suitable for underwear. Also a mirror in the main room would be useful. The bathroom needs refurbishment, especially the tiles in the shower and the cracked sink, and the smoke alarm in the kitchen area seemed to have no battery.

Comfy stay in Wicklow, handy to town. All the added extras have been thought of ( eg: adaptors, hair dryer, cooking options)

The sheets, carpet and kitchen were surfaced clean. There were fresh towels and cleaning supplies. We briefly spoke to both owners are they were nice. We felt safe in the property. It was close enough to walk into town.

I was a bit disappointed that the property is listed as having an ocean view, but the windows are facing the main house (you can only see the ocean if you are outside the property and have a peek above the bushes). The mould in the bathroom tiles was really unpleasant as some tiles looked like they could fall off at any time (did not match the photos uploaded). There were quite a few cobwebs on the walls as well as spiders (being surrounded by shrubs and trees, I understand some spiders come in, but the webs could've been cleaned before we arrived). (the pictures I'm sharing were taken on departure day, the beds were well made when we arrived). 01/09/2023 - This is a response after reading the owner's feedback. I've noticed a pattern in previous reviews, where the is an inability to take in criticism, even if it's done politely (like I believe I have). How could you possibly resolve the issues I mentioned during our stay? That would involve making windows facing the water front (so that you can truly claim that the property has an "ocean view"), replacing the shower tiles (as they have so much mold they look like they will fall out) and cleaning the cobwebs (I was perfectly capable of doing that myself). Comparing this to sending back food in a restaurant doesn't make any sense to me. If I had complained about these issues, they could not have been repaired during our stay, nor could we have gotten our money back and find another accommodation on the day (as Wicklow is a very popular spot). At least in a restaurant, I can leave and find another place to eat. I understand this is not the feedback you want to hear regarding your property, and that some people are very happy with these conditions - but I find it unprofessional to consistently trying to make your previous customers look petty or unreasonable just because the feedback wasn't what you expected.

Ian and his family were brilliant, the location was central to all the activities we had planned . Bonus points for Fred, Luke and Max. We are already planning to revisit. If I could I would give 100/10
