Peaceful location

This property was immaculate, comfortable and had all we needed for a short stay.

The location was picturesque and peaceful. A beautiful location.

The drive in was a bit confusing but ok.

Lovely location by a lake. Cute and nicely furnished.

We were expecting something more private but this is a small apartment right beside / part of a larger b&b. We eagerly arrived early just to get our bearings — not expecting to check in but just to see where we were so that we could then tour around from there. Host was quite rude on seeing us arrive so soon. We had friends camping in the area and invited them to visit us there one night and we’d make dinner. I flagged this with the host asking if parking in drive would be okay. He said fine. When they were well settled in the late evening, the host text me to ask if I could ensure my guests were ‘off the premises by 11pm for insurance purposes.’ At this point, I had invited them to stay as the apartment sleeps four (even though there was just a kids room with two single beds available). The text from the host really stressed me out and put a dampener on our evening. I asked to meet the host since he was in the b&b right beside us, (clearly watching our movements). He claimed he needed the names of all staying ‘for insurance’ (when the name of my partner staying with me hadn’t even been required when we checked in). Of course, it turned out to be a shakedown: if they were staying over, he wanted more money which we then paid (it was getting a bit late for my guests to find a campsite at this point). The lack of directness about it from the moment I asked about visitors is what caused the stress here; moreover, it strikes me now as a bit greedy having stayed in several similar types of self-catering accommodation in Ireland this summer in which a couple of additional guests could visit for a night and stay at no extra cost and hosts were welcoming and only asked if we had enough towels etc.

The place was a gem in a wonderful landscape. The host has been kind and very supportive. You could sit down by the lake, sipping beverage or eating outside, with some elegant lighting. The house is fully equipped for the best comfort. TV is hidden in a cabinet, you need to open it to see it. Just perfect.
