Vintage Home Como Lake

Beautifully appointed and very spacious apartment in the centre of historical Como. The layout provides privacy for a larger family like ours. There were 5 of us. The ‘older generation’ had its own room with a beautiful bathroom at the opposite end. The apartment felt like home. Silvia who was our point of contact for the apartment was wonderful, very responsive, offered a lot of good info to make our stay most enjoyable. Any issues we may have run into in the apartment she solved in no time. Thank you Silvia!

It can be a bit noisy in early mornings on the garbage collection days but some of us slept tight through it.

The location was excellent. Everything was very clean and the apparment was excellent. A very nice, competent and professional lady was waiting for us as we arrived and gave us very helpful information about the appartment and the town.

Beautiful, well equipped, very spacious flat just a short walk from Como Lago train Station so no need to get a taxi to it. Our host carried my suitcase up 6 or so steps up to lift/ 6 steps down from lift and was very welcoming.Great bakery, Tina Barrette , opposite (closed Sundays, also sells milk, take out/ eat in meals and sandwiches) and nice coffee shop next door to it. There's a Carrefour express supermarket 5 mins away below the Coin department store (go to left side of Coin)- take short cut by turning right as you exit building and taking street Via Volpi, to right of Best Estate shop. There's a larger branch of the Tina B. bakery, open Sundays just before Coin too. We loved Como - very friendly people, craft markets at weekends round the stunning cathedral, great shopping, lovely piazzas, delicious gelato and great connections for days out - buses, train and ferry. At the moment there is building work on west side of lakefront/ lakeside Park and Villa Olmo. You can still walk out to Life Electric statue on lake though for an unaffected view. Did a wine tasting for 19 Euros at Enoteca da Gigi near flat.We went to Milan (direct train from Como Lago)and went to Armani Silos and on roof terraces of the cathedral (buy a fasttrak ticket online otherwise queues are awful! )Saw Da Vinci's Last Supper but you do need to book 3 months in advance!Took C10 bus from Como to Villa Carlotta then took ferry from in front of the villa to Bellagio and got C30 bus back (from Lido). Check out the ASF website for bus times: www.asfautolinee.it You can pay in cash on bus or get ticket from station.Took train from San Giovanni Station to Lugano in Switzerland. Even went to stunning Pian di Spagna nature reserve at top of lake but it was quite a journey. Loved exploring Como itself too and took funicular up to Brunate. To get up to the lighthouse there you take a jeep when you leave top funicular Station. Otherwise it's a very, very steep walk up.

If you stay in a city flat there will inevitably be some street noise. It wasn't at night but bin men/ street cleaners in the early morning- that's why Como is so clean! Take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Beautiful apartment in the heart of Como. Supermarket, restaurants, cafes, stores are all on your doorstep. Spacious bedrooms with a well equipped kitchen and washing machine. Being in the centre of a pedestrian zone did mean there was some noise during the early hours with street sweepers and rubbish collection. The host was very helpful and quick to respond to enquires. We had a lovely stay.
