The apartment is well situated in the historic Old Town, close to museums, art gallery and theatres. I could not have had a better base for exploring Hull. It had all the facilities I needed, was clean and comfortable.

I arrived at Grammar School Yard not knowing the number of my apartment nor the code for the key safe. Fortunately a phone call connected me to the person who was completing a repair and all was well. The apartment lacks information about operating its equipment (eg the TV), getting hot water and where to put recycling. No local information either. Crockery, cutlery and glasses are minimal, though adequate for one person (I bought two cheap mugs and left them). I was able to disentangle the cord of the black out blind (thanks to finding the steps in the kitchen) and thought the dirty looking rug needed cleaning or throwing away. None of this prevented me from having an enjoyable week in Hull.

Location was in the heart of the old town of Hull, beautiful area with the Trinity Market a stones throw away.

The hot water was not working but this host was quick to address the issues promptly.

Hull Old Town is a lovely friendly place to visit. Hence location gets top score.

The apartment! The hallways smell of wet dog and the apartment did too. Having thrown all windows wide open the smell was still there. I arrived a couple of days late due to work commitments and left early after only two nights as I could not bear the smell any longer. Netflix was advertised as available, there is certainly an app on the TV (which itself has very few channels) but you had to log in with your own account. A PC is mentioned as available, there was not one there. The shower hose was disgusting, the shower curtain was more like a hanging ground sheet, although it was at least clean. The pillows smelled the same as everywhere else, I wrapped them in towels to be able to face putting my head down. There are hardly any plug sockets, one is broken and cracked. The settee is stained and pretty unpleasant. There is one lamp, not even plugged in (see comment about plugs above) and the shade is wobbly and stained. Shabby would be a generous description. But the smell, truly I can't explain it. When I left I informed my contact and explained why. He said none had ever complained of a smell, not true, see negative feedbacks. Booking.Com should investigate as their glowing reviews are *very* misleading. Please don't be fooled as I was by these.

Excellent location in the city centre, suitable for walking everywhere. Perfect for a short stay with private parking too. We had a problem with the bathroom light, reported this to the owner and it was repaired the same day 🙂

Bed was lovely and comfortable but kept losing the pillows down the back of it.

Amazing host Simon was just brilliant. Very pleased with the stay and would definitely recommend to stay. Extremely helpful and accommodating. Property was maintained well and any issues were tended to immediately.
