Churchill Two Bedroom Apartments with Free Parking and The Minster view

The view of York Minster was as promised: very nice!

There was a bad sickly smell that emanated from under the sink. No windows opened in that room, so we had the front door open and the cooker exhaust fan on. The smell remained. There was no ventilation in the ensuite bathroom to the master bedroom and all the towel rails had gone, although there were still brackets in the walls suggesting they had once been there. The mattresses were thin and uncomfortable, as were the pillows. At 3AM the battery alarms in the smoke alarms began chirping, waking us all up. We never went back to sleep because they emitted a loud chirp every 45 seconds, making further sleep impossible. The place looked like it had been surface cleaned and was grubby - keep in mind this place is advertised as a high end accommodation and the pricing reflects that. When we left, we followed the instructions in the folder provided and left the keys on the kitchen table. When we went to the garage to retrieve our car, the garage door was closed. We needed the keys to get into the garage, which btw was wide open when we arrived leading us to believe it would be when we left. I tried the number listed as the emergency number and couldn’t get through to anyone. It was 8 in the morning, but emergencies tend not to conform to a 9 - 5 schedule and I think it’s reasonable to assume that someone would take a call on such a line at 8 in the morning. When I texted the number I’d used to settle my difficulties paying for the apartment - 2 very sound credit cards I tried to use were declined and my brother-in-law had to use his to get the payment to go through - the person responded that the instructions about keys and parking were very clear, suggesting that it was basically my fault that I got locked out of the garage. The instructions were not clear enough and that’s on them. Visitors need everything made super clear because they’re completely new to the place. There was no mention of this in the texted instructions I received upon arriving.

The property was clean and tidy with comfortable beds and good bathroom facilities.WiFi was good and had Netflix which was handy for relaxing after going out in the evening.

Unfortunately when we arrived the lift was not working and as I find stairs difficult it caused a problem accessing the apartment on the second floor.Had I been less mobile this would have been a big problem as the apartment was listed as accessible and having a lift.

The property was clean and tidy easy to manage. The location is perfect. The parking is very handy too.

This is an superb apartment. The rooms were a well proportioned, light and airy as well as being very clean and comfortable. Ideal location with a wonderful view of the minster (3 minute walk away) with many restaurants, pubs, shops and arts centres on the doorstep. A basement garage for free parking and a convenience store downstairs for groceries, I would highly recommend this apartment and will use again.

Loved the central location and the apartment itself was great. Very comfortable and welcoming. Very hot weather and fans were provided which was excellent. Very clean throughout.
