Apartments Essen-Rüttenscheid

We travelled to Essen mainly for a family visit and chose the apartment because it was within walking distance from our relatives' home. But the location is excellent for other reasons: many shops, restaurants, bakeries, cafés and supermarkets are literally around the corner on the attractive Rüttenscheider Straße. The Folkwang Museum (art gallery) can be reached on foot, as can the Grugapark, the trade fair grounds and the Alfried Krupp Hospital. The underground station Florastraße is very close and makes it easy to use public transport for destinations in Essen and the Ruhr Valley. Essen main train station is only a few stops away (no need to change). The apartment 'Hanni' is on the ground floor (street level, no steps or stairs). It is located in a typical German apartment house; in this respect it is not 'touristy'. The neighbourhood is urban but quiet. The apartment's main room is spacious and open plan. It includes a small kitchen, a table with chairs to eat, a sofa, a large TV and two good beds. The wifi worked well. The apartment is warm, well equipped and has a microwave with oven function. For a longer stay it may be worth knowing that there is no hob and no washing machine in the flat. The bathroom is large and modern; it has a nice double bath (also with shower). The second bedroom only holds two large beds and provides storage space; it is not designed as a separate room to withdraw to. The hosts were very responsive, friendly and easy to reach.

The apartment was practical, clean and contained almost everything we need, linens were clean and we got enough of them. We chose it for the proximity to the Alfried Krupp Hospital but I think the location is also good for sightseeing - the tram stop Florastrasse is right around the corner. A grocery store is at that corner as well. The owner is quick to respond and helpful.

Bathroom and entry hall are quite cold so you have to keep the living room door closed - not a bad thing, you just need to remember. The kitchen equipment is very basic, I'd appreciate some whisk, scissors, scale or at least a measurement cup, ladle, smaller knife and more pieces of cutlery than four. And like everywhere, there is only one trash bin, so waste segregation was very improvised.

Perfect for a visitor of the Essen exibition. 10 Min walking. Perfect connection to city center and railway station by underground. Lot of facilities nearby. Very quiet zone. Good internet connection

For a 4-day stay, a small towel and a large towel are sincerely insufficient equipment. It was better to specify in the description. Not all guests are used to using a mini quilt as a pillow

Nice location with parking. Calm and nice neighbourhood, small apartment, but just enough for 2-3 people or family with one child.

It is an older app, but taken care of. I would only replace the shower and put in an air dryer.

Always exceptional

Everything is great. Nothing bad

An artsy feel with the unique lighting choices and the single bed in the “cave” in the back. Relatively quiet side street considering the proximity to shops and restaurants.

The front door of the building is just outside the apartment’s entrance, and we would be woken up in the mornings whenever someone left the building. Didn’t seem to be an issue on the weekend.
