Alleyway House

Fantastic location in Hydra town, in one of the traditional narrow streets (hence no view as such but that really did not matter at all). Very close to the harbour and all the buzz of the area. Really importantly it is the level part of town avoiding the steep climbs up the surrounding hills. We didn’t need to hire a horse to carry our luggage! Hosts are lovely and very helpful. The interior design is great, from the height of the main space down to the details of everything (inc a very cool tap in the bathroom!). Small kitchen was perfect for light meals, but we ate out most of the time - that’s what you do in Hydra! Even the beech towels were great!!!

The only very minor problem we had was mastering the operation of the tilt and turn window - but we got there in the end! Quite frankly the place was perfect for us. We would return without hesitation.

The guest give us all the facilities to have a good accommodation. The apartment is very cozy and all the equipment works properly. The location is very convenient: it is closed to the port and there is a supermarket around the corner that opens everyday. It is the type of apartment where I could be happy to stay many more days.

I’m very used to a hard mattress and the main bed was rather soft. However, I spent every night in the main bed and slept very well, waking up without back pain. When I first tried the mattress, I considered to move to the divan in the living room, but it was not necessary.

Great place, great hosts, great location. Couldn't ask for a better spot on Hydra.

The hosts were lovely and friendly. We were met at the harbour by the host and walked with him to the property. The accommodation was beautifully presented, well equipped and very clean. Great location and very quiet. Would thoroughly recommend.

Nothing to dislike.

The apartment is beautifully designed and put together. The owners are positively lovely and so helpful, they even supplied beach towels! The apartment is serviced every other day. Beds are comfortable and situated up an open staircase to the bedroom area which also has a wardrobe and useful dressing table. The kitchen isso well appointed that it is possible to cook all meals if you want to. There was a proper filter coffee machine. There is a comfortable sitting area with a TV.

The wall between the two neighbouring apartments is not soundproof as described so when the people next door talked loudly we could hear every word. It was not a huge problem for me but there were a lot of stairs which would make it not so suitable for people with mobility problems.

Christos and Vana, the owners, are very kind people and welcomed us at the Port at our arrival. The house is beautiful, very clean, fully equipped and with a powerful air conditioning system. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is big. The house is in a very peaceful little street but close to the grocery shop and a few steps away from the Port, bar and boutiques. I surely recommend Alleyway House to anyone who's looking for a quiet, peaceful and beautiful house.

Great, spacious apartment in an amazing location (3 minute walk from the port). It’s very comfortable and has a nice bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a great time here and would definitely recommend it to people we know!

What we really missed was a clothing rack/somewhere to hang wet clothes/towels. The host said we could give our stuff to her to hang at her place - which was a nice gesture - but obviously we’d prefer to hang our stuff ourselves at our own place. Furthermore, we’d booked a 4 person apartment and when we arrived, we were quite surprised with the 4th bed. This wasn’t a proper sofa bed, but a fold out chair. The host said typically the smallest person or kids should lay there, but if you allow 4 adults to book your place, it should also accommodate 4 normal sized adults. The ‘smallest’ person of our group would still be quite confined in this chair/bed. Luckily the hosts were very accommodating and moved us to a bigger apartment the next day, with 2 actual sofa beds so it wasn’t a problem for us and we very much appreciate the hosts’ willingness to help.
