Travel Inn Deluxe Anniewatta

The apartment was really nice with all the amenities and located in an affluent area,we managed to wash our clothes and dried quickly on the veranda.As we were having tummy troubles we didn't see much of Kandy,but did see the tooth temple which was good.

A little difficult to find like most places we have stayed in

I didn’t like anything - I have booked many properties over the years including apartments, home stays and hotels. Both budget and high end, this is by far the worst experience encountered.

- Unclean, floor very dirty and surfaces weren’t wiped down after previous guests - No basic amenities eg. coffee, tea, bottles of water. No washing up liquid, cleaning products or hand soap. The only “cleaning” product provided is old remnants of soap bars - No hot water despite the hot water button being switched on - No property signage, no street names and no street lights. It is impossible to find in the day and even harder at night. - Very impersonal. I communicated my arrival time weeks in advance and reconfirmed on the day, yet I wasn’t greeted by anyone on arrival nor throughout my stay, despite the family being next door. They simply asked the “servant” (their words) who doesn’t speak English to give me the key. By the end of the stay I was really unhappy with the experience, I listed all the unresolved problems that I had communicated thoroughout my stay and asked that discount is applied to the bill to reflect that. Instead of acknowledging the issues I was bombarded with phonecalls and messages from the owners family and her staff. This was distressing and tiring as I had to re-explain the complaints each time. Her team didn’t bother coming to speak in-person but they did think it was okay to attempt to stop me leaving the property to have dinner. Finally I hear from the owner and she simply threatens to contact the authorities for non-payment which was never the situation. Very hostile and unreasonable, they don’t understand customer service at all. Stay somewhere else.

Best place to stay! 10 of 10 in everything!

It is such a luxury property, beautifully appointed yet spare enough not to be overwhelming. Every room is appropriately equipped. It is spacious. It is light and airy. Always cool. Very pretty. The moment I checked in, I extended my stay by an extra day, choosing to visit Sigiriya as a day trip just so I could return to this property later that evening. Staying here was the best way to end a 7-day vacation in south and middle Sri Lanka

That I couldn’t bring it home with me 🙁

The flat was really very large and had two comfortable bedrooms with each a bathroom! The kitchen had everything we needed and it was nice to feel „like home“ for a change to the usual hotels. The family who owned the flat was very nice. Thank you so much for picking us up from down the street (we didn’t find the apartment at first - it’s at the end of the road!)

Spacious, kitchen was well equipped and furniture was very good. Place is very calm and quiet and the family is very friendly and humble and they respect our privacy. Specially for solo female travelers and female group of friends highly recommended. I felt very safe just like at home.

Rooms were a bit dusty specially the wardrobes were very dusty. I have a dust allergy so first two days I was all sneezing and runny nose. Bathrooms should be cleaned more. In one room WC wasn’t cleaned properly.
