Jardim da Meia Praia Apartment

The location was just a couple of kilometres from Lagos in a peaceful area. Nearest grocery store (Pingo Doce) was very well equipped. The pool area was big and there was a separate area for smaller kids plus plenty of sunbeds for everybody. The apartment itself was in a really good shape.

The TV in the apartment was pretty old and the image quality was not good. The floor was quite dirty so it was better to use flip flops inside, I guess people wear shoes inside the apartments.

Our stay was for one month so we needed accommodation that would be a 'home from home' - the apartment fitted the bill perfectly. Super well equipped to live independently, self cater etc, 3 large bedrooms which we didn't really need but it added to the sense of being in a home rather than just a holiday apartment, 2 bathrooms were a bonus, quality fixtures and fittings with comfortable, simple furnishings throughout - the grounds of the complex are kept in an immaculate condition and again a feeling of spaciousness as the apartment blocks are well spaced and a mix of styles, generally not exceeding 3 storeys, with basement parking under and a dedicated space for each apartment. The large pool looked very inviting but too cool in February to venture in, the on-site restaurant/bar wasn't due to open for a few weeks so we missed out on that, Paul, the owners rep on site was ultra helpful and we spent a couple of great afternoons with him, his wife Norma and other residents in local restaurants that they kindly took us to. The Meia Praia beach is around a 1.5km walk away or a short drive - its vast, spotlessly clean, with a lovely boardwalk stretching all the way to Lagos as an alternative to walking on the sand, with a variety of beach bars/restaurants en route - a similar distance in the opposite direction takes you to the estuary looking across to Alvor. We enjoyed our stay immensely and are eager to return in the future.

Not a dislike by any means but it should be pointed out that there are no shops, bars or restaurants in the immediate vicinity so a car is essential for picking up provisions from the plentiful supermarkets etc in Lagos, which is around a 3km drive away.

The mini hoover was useless. Like I said nit picking.

Convenient for Lagos town, marina, Meia Praia beach and Palmares golf course-92 euros green fee inc an essential buggy,given long distances between greens and tees. Stunning clubhouse-great sea views- with prices to match! The 3 bedroom apartment, well equipped, was in pretty good condition and just suited our family's occupation. . The quiet property, with lift, was situated in well maintained grounds, amid swaying palm trees, with pool and bar/restaurant adjacent. Barman was friendly and offered efficient service to guests -and there was a happy hour too. We liked that!. Closed Mondays. Pickup and return of keys as arranged with Paul was on time and he showed us round on arrival. Much appreciated. A really good Easter hols week, even if the bar and apartment tv did not have the Masters golf channel!

The door keys were rather tricky to use and i got locked out twice until resident showed me how to fiddle with the door handle to open it. The walkin, modern,tiled shower was operational with plentiful hot water, but would have benefited from a safety grab handle and floormat for the elderly. Likewise, the six (6)steps to access and exit the large swimming pool did not have a handrail which made mobility rather difficult for the less agile, with risk of slipping/falling- but no problem for the youngsters. The safety hazards need rectifying in my opinion.
