Lagos Apartment AP Praia Dona Ana

When arriving at Iberlagos park up in any available space and find the entrance towards the end of building J. When you enter you arrive in a strange blue tiled corridor which I could never really get my head round but then you access via a code into the main building where you can access the 2nd floor via stairs or the lift. Access to the apartment is via a key kept in a lockbox outside. There are keys here that you can use to park your car underground in bay 6. Enter via a the green door by the entrance to Iberlagos and that's it. Easy. The apartment is clean and spacious with a balcony and superb kitchenette and dining/living room. Access to the pool is a very short walk towards the sea (2 minutes). It is huge! 3 euros for a sun lounger/day. It overlooks the Praia Dona beach, which is gorgeous. It's the Atlantic of course so don't expect mediterranean water temperatures. The trick is to commit to the manoevre and charge the waters. A temperature shock at first but once in you can swim comfortably for a long time before wanting to emerge. It's an easy walk to the marina (25 minutes or less) for daytrips - do the speedboat tour to Benagil caves - this was superb and very very fast. Supermarket - ignore the little one at the other end of building J (useless) but where you entered and parked your car there is a green gate with steps leading into a large car park. Cut through this, turn left at the gates and immediately right. Only a 5 minute walk to the Spar which has everything you will need. All in all a great place!

There is an issue with the key leading to the car park via the lift to access the car park but I'm sure they will have sorted this out as I raised the issue. Either way the key will work accessing the garage via the green door at the bottom (where you enter with your car)... it's fiddly but does work but again I am sure this key will be sorted.

The apartment was just like how it was described. So, we were very happy about it. The accommodation came with the access cards for the communal swimming pool. We were there almost every day after visiting neighbouring beaches. Lagos town was within walking distance, which was very handy.

Good location and easy walk into town and restaurants.

Didn’t live up to the photos on booking.com.

The location was great, very close to a beautiful beach. The pool was also great .

Only favorable point was the weather and the reasonable proximity to the beach.

Would like to rate this below 1, but not an option. Key access did not work - had to get security key for use during stay. Waited a couple hours to get into the property. Host said this had never happened before, but other booking.com reviews say otherwise. Apartment was dated, beds were extremely uncomfortable, linens are old, patio chair covers were torn (photos are available). Provided a bottle of wine but no corkscrew. Bathroom sink tap was barely a dribble. Kitchen and bathroom lights were not functioning and, even though hosts were advised, this was not attended to during the entire 5 days. Advertisement says pool access, but does not say that we had to pay for daily 6 Euros per day to use the chairs. MAJOR issue - due to poor shower drainage, the bathroom floor flooded and I fell and fractured my ankle which required hospital visit to emergency and an immediate return to Canada upon doctor's orders. Host was contacted and we were basically told "it's a bathroom, it's humid, you should have expected it". It is not reasonable to expect that the whole bathroom floor would have a couple inches of water on it and when stepping out, you were at high risk of falling. No way to prevent a fall in this instance!! Host was aware of these issues and I have it in writing that they told us they would not be fixing any of this while we were in the apartment. Several emails were exchanged with host using the booking.com system so all of this is on record. DO NOT STAY HERE. Host says it's not a five star hotel and he's certainly correct on that....

The location and the apartment was excellent
