Bairro Alegre, Casa do Porto

It was a lovely property with a garden to sit in. We cooked there a few nights and the kitchen was well equipped. Alvaro was a fabulous host, giving us tips on where to go in Porto. The laundry was out of service due to renovations but Alvaro organised an alternative for us which was appreciated. When one of our group fell ill he offered to go the chemist. 12 out of 10 points for Alvaro. Thank you.

It’s a good half an hours walk to the centre. We managed ok but less mobile people may need to find a taxi or public transport.

Àlvaro was very sweet and assisted us throughout our 5 night stay. We enjoyed being able to watch the football games at night after our busy afternoons. He even went out to purchase beach towels for our day at the beach. The oranges were delicious and the coffee was a bonus! The kitchen had everything needed for a family of 4 to make a good breakfast and dinner. Lidl down the street was perfect.

We had to do a few loads of laundry which was great having a washer but the dryer was broken. The dryer racks helped but in rainy days it was a challenge. Everything in the apartment was great though not to get from town but just enough for a quiet evening

Hot water was not really enough for 3 people

We loved everything about this place. We even regretted not having planned a longer stay in Porto.

Onw single issue. We had to pay 12 euros for city tax, that we should have been informed about priorly. For the car owners, please inform the host beforehand so he can arrange a parking space for you beforehand.

Lovely welcome by the host, gave us a map of the area, pointing out recommended places to visit. Although the weather was not great, there was lots of rain, the garden would be lovely to sit in during the warmer months.

The location was great for us. In between stadium for soccer match and historic centre. Alvaro was very welcoming and helpful. A home away from home!
