Locally Yours São Bento Apartments

We feel it is necessary to warn future guests: At the time of our stay, there was heavy construction directly next to the property, with significant noise from early morning until evening. There was no mention of this in the listing when we booked. Only after booking did we discover an older guest review referencing the noise. When we contacted the host to cancel, the request was denied with the explanation that “the noise wasn’t that bad.” This was absolutely not the case. We documented the noise extensively (photos and videos) and have now opened a formal complaint with Booking.com. Legal action through a consumer protection organization is also currently in progress. Failing to disclose a major disturbance like this is not just unprofessional – it may constitute deliberate deception. Our trust in this property was completely violated. We strongly urge future guests to read recent reviews carefully and consider alternative accommodations.

Excellent host with great communication for checking in and recommendations for restaurants. Also, great location as it’s centrally located to all attractions, though a bit noisy from the busy street during day. The annoying part is the poor sound proofing from people walking and running on upstairs unit, especially during early morning hours. No heating mode from AC unit; it was a bit chilly. Also, expensive to park nearby if you’ve a rental car, though it was lessened a bit from the recommendation of the host where to park with discounts for longer term parking.

The hostess, Joana was absolutely amazing! She was extremely responsive and helpful. I loved the map along with the restaurant recommendations. I loved that the restaurant recommendation list was small. It can be overwhelming to be provided with a list of 20 restaurants so this made it much easier. We ended up eating breakfast every morning at the recommended bakery and ate dinner one night at another recommended restaurant. The apartment was great too! Spacious enough for our needs. The location was excellent. Plenty of places to eat nearby. The train station is right across the road. The bedroom is at the back of the unit so a most of the street sounds couldn't be heard. I hope to go back to Porto one day and will definitely stay there again.

The only minor complaint I have is that the hot water in the shower did not last long. I would say at most it lasted about 15 minutes. That might matter to some and not to others but I thought it was worth mentioning.
