Charming Balcony Apartment in Historic Ribeira - Inside Porto Apartments "Mouzinho"

The location is AMAZING. It's on one of the most historic streets in Porto and central to everything. You are 5 minutes walk from the metro entrance and you are a 2 minute walk from a Starbucks, if that's your thing. The bed was very comfortable and air conditioning was fantastic during the heat wave I experienced. The bathroom is modern and shower itself is spacious and the kitchen is well stocked with the basics you would need to cook most anything. The balcony was such a lovely bonus and it was enjoyable to eat breakfast or have a glass of wine on it and overlook all the people below. Wifi has a great signal. The decorations are quaint and well-styled. The host is very responsive and easy to text with.

The chairs, rug, and patio furniture are run down or uncomfortable. The patio furniture was pretty old and weathered with water damage and moss, leaving residue on my clothes every time I sat on them. The rug in the apartment is warped and is a bit of a trip hazard. It's an inexpensive IKEA-style rug and just need to be replaced. The heavy blanket for the bed had some fresh stains on it (one crusty) and needed to be laundered. There is a TV, but no instructions on how to work it or any of the appliances like the air conditioner, dish washer, coffee maker, or oven. The bathroom is VERY cramped so I hit my elbow or snagged my hip on the door handle trying to do my makeup go in and out many times. There was mildew and mold in the grout and sealant of the shower, indicating it's not scrubbed clean properly. The shower also lacked any place to hang or place bottles, so everything has to sit on the floor, which grosses me out. There are no shelves in the bathroom and no hooks, so it's difficult to store your toiletries and makeup anywhere but inside the small cupboard or teetering on the small sink. The noise from the upstairs tenant was very loud. The floors are not well insulated so you hear every step, and unfortunately when I was there, he liked to do circuit training above so there was a ton of running and jumping that made my walls shake and my bed vibrate. I had to go upstairs and ask him to be quiet, which lasted one night. There are no instructions on how to use the tv and I guess I was watching Netflix on someone else's guest account and it was abruptly shut off mid-movie. Thinking it was a value of the property, I contacted the host who was very responsive, but informed me there is no Netflix, so if you are from the States, you won't have access because our basic plans don't work in Portugal.

In a popular location so can be a little bit noisy with late night revellers passing along the street (I just used earplugs) Maybe would be helpful to have instructions how to use the cooker/ hob and tv .

Location excellent….everything went to plan, easy to find and 5 minutes walk from Metro station. Accessed apartment with no problems following E Mail from host. Apartment clean and spacious…had everything we needed. Wish we could have stayed longer!

1. I was given the wrong PIN to get the key out of the box. I tried within the whole house complex. When I called, I was given the right PIN. Very unpleasant. 2. No elevator (I either read over or it was not mentioned). I was in the 2. floor with a heavy suitcase. 3. Not soundproof: neither walls (Someone in the house or a neighboring house started drilling and hammering shortly before 8 in the morning.), nor ceilings (I heard the tourists from above walking around their apartment), nor windows.

Good central location for a short stay in Porto, about a 10 minute stroll from the river and handy for the metro station to the airport.

I could have stayed there forever. I loved the location in the middle of the historical center and near the river (Ribeira do Porto) with its beautiful picturesque buildings.

That I had to get out.
