Host Wise - Modern Flats with Stunning Terrace or Balcony - Central Location

The location is great, close to the Marques, close to ViaCatarina Shopping, great walking distance to everything. It has a washer/dryer combo which is great. Great Wifi, internet compared to many places I've been in Portugal.

There was glass on the floor when I came in, the place hadn't been cleaned obviously. I was booked for a full month nonrefundable and it seemed like they didn't care since they knew they had me for the month nonetheless, this was reflected in my communications. The stovetop is broken and doesn't work, the shower head is rusted and ejected particles when turned on for the first time, the shower drain cap is broken. There is constant construction going on nearby, every weekday starting at 6-8am and going until 5-7pm. The wifi went down multiple times and the communication with the host was not great. Whenever there is a problem they would ask for photos, booking .com does not allow photos to be shared on their app. The people managing the rental clearly are a third party (Hostwise) and have to communicate any problems you have to the owners with a second step. Twice I had no internet and had to wait 12-18 hours for it to be turned back on while being asked to take pictures of a router that is not in the apartment, ie. the right-hand does not know what the left hand is doing. The balcony pictures they have are misleading, the view from the balcony is of run-down buildings, ie. why there is constant construction noise. The sun never hits the balcony, but you will want to get out of the apartment anyway because of all the construction noise. The broken glass on the floor and the poor response from the host left a sour taste in general about my stay. I wish I had booked one week nonrefundable and the rest refundable so I could have picked a different spot.

Lovely apartment in a good location for Porto and getting to the train station. Very clean and comfortable. A bit tricky to get in as I hadn't received the email about tourist tax etc so hadn't then received the key code. However, Pedro on the customer helpline was fantastic and he saved 3 very tired and desperate travellers from any further stress. A big vote of thanks to Pedro.

The process of not being given the keycode until after the Tourist tax/forms have been completed was clunky and very nearly didn't work for us. Having booked and paid I then did not have an internet connection to receive the email that required action prior to receiving the code. This caused so much additional stress and additional sorting out. Fortunately Pedro trusted me to do it once I had got in the apartment and had an internet connection- and I did. By comparison, the following day I booked an apartment in Lisbon and the system worked there as I am suggesting here.
