Overall, we had a nice time in Spitz but our expectations with the accommodation were not matched. 1) It is a large and fully independant flat within a bigger house with other flats attached to it, not a fully independent house like we expected. 2) The reality did not match the pictures: the sofas especially upstairs are getting old and saggy, the terrace/balcony is worn down (e.g. torn umbrella, flooring needs a serious scrub), the stairs are wonky. The picture of the balcony also suggests also a lot more privacy than reality as the property is surrounded by houses when the picture suggests one house next door and maybe two in the distance. We also felt the place was much darker than the pictures suggested. 3) The first impression (beyond the mishap with the staff to leave the luggage) was poor with overflowing bins outside (the first thing you see of the property!) and then no bedding or cover on the beds and the daybed upstairs, except for one bedroom downstairs. Even the nice attention with the bottle of wine did not manage to compensate for the bad impressions sadly. When you spend nearly 300€/night on an accommodation, you expect better presentation. 4) A more minor point but we expected curtains in the bedrooms that would block the light better. In the end, it gave too much the impression of a property that needed more/renewed care put into it. We still had a nice time but are unlikely to recommend it or come back.

Comfy beds, plenty of room. Check in and out was simple and easy.

Maybe some new pillows would be good.

Apart from the fridge, there were no facilities to store groceries. Kitchen was superbly equipped but all cupboards full with equipment. No contact with anyone in person on arrival. Very strange for me as I work in this business too and I know how important personal contact is, especially on arrival.

We (a family with two children aged 2 and 12) stayed at the apartment for three nights in May 2024. Our experience, both in the enchanting Wachau Valley and within the apartment, was thoroughly delightful. The apartment was impeccably equipped with all the essentials, and it exuded a fresh, modern, and inviting atmosphere. The contactless check-in was seamless, and convenient parking was provided. We were also impressed by the detailed and helpful instructions from the apartment owners. We highly recommend this wonderful place!

The only downside is a lack of infrastructure in Spitz.
