Mosquito net from bed was not good so we got eaten the first night The sheets were not that clean

the house is amazing in a rather local street in Shela. It's easily accessible from the main dock and Peponi Hotel. It's very tastefully decorated and full of charm.

I would have liked to be informed in advance that pick-up was not free (totally fine, but would be better to know upon arrival and not departure :)

My first impression of Deuli House's wonderfulness was Chuie, the manager, who picked us up at the airport and provided us with useful information on Lamu City and Shela. The Deuli House itself is a spectacular example of Swahili-Arabic architecture, with a riyad-style central fountain in a light well extending 3 stories high. Beautifully handcrafted wood furniture decorate the living area. An antique dhow sail billows from the top of the light well to the ground floor exaggerating the building's height. The garden is large, and green with HUGE giant oyster shells where the turtles shelter from the sun. In addition to the breathtaking architecture, Chef Chengo and his assistant Michael, act like your personal chef and waiter. Peilo (sp?) the household help, created a beautiful bed of flowers as a welcome and keeps the accommodations spotless. The meals were amazing, the rooms are spacious, and the service, impeccable. The mosque is nearby, so we were shocked at 5am for prayers. It is located close to Peponi Hotel and magnificent soft sandy beaches which unfortunately we didn't have enough time to walk around. Also missed sailing at sunset in a dhow boat because of inclement weather...bummed...need to return.

Beautiful house, spacious room and very attentive staff. I was taken care of very well. Chui helped us plan our activities very well. The tours and boat trips were fun and organized.

It’s a really beautiful place, the photos don’t do it justice, but it’s nice to arrive somewhere and find that rather than the other way around. Also, included in the price is your guide, airports transfers, a cook, a cleaner and a chef - again, another amazing surprise! Not only that, but they are all exceptional people who took extremely professional, patient and kind care with us. We wanted for nothing. Everything was done for us, shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, tour trips, you name it. Chui our guide oversaw it all. Chengo our chef cooked some of the best meals I’ve ever tasted, Michael the butler was extremely attentive and the maid did our washing and cleaning.
