Loft at Republic Square

Apartment was clean and modern but had very basic, minimum items provided by host. Location was close to old wall city. Host let us check in by 1 pm.

Apartment is on third floor of a old building, you have to walk up lot of stairs with your luggage which could be very hard. Very old style stairs, one of my friends slipped on it coming down. Apt had very basic and minimum items provided. we were five of us and host only gave us 5 glasses and 5 cups, so we had to keep cleaning after every use. There is no living room, just kitchen and two bedrooms. Host was not polite or accommodating towards couple of requests we made. She did provide 5 blankets but she wasn't polite to communicate, actually rude. the day we were checking out, we requested if she would accommodate in any way to leave our luggage until 2.30 pm since check out was 10.30am and we didn't want to lug the luggage somewhere else. she totally declined. we left the place all tidy up, cleaned everything, made the beds. we stayed in 4 different places in Croatia and all other apartments host were more than accommodating and extremely polite except this place. she also didn't reply back when i asked where to leave the keys. I would not recommend this place because of the host behavior towards her guests.

The location was excellent. Right at the port in split and a lovely square where there are some restaurants and bars. A very nice bakery a few doors down and overall relatively quiet despite being at the busy square. Ghe bathroom and beds were lovely.

There was no elevator and it was up 3 flights of stairs, this was fine for our group but could be difficult for others. There was also no large windows to be able to hang wet clothes/towels etc. from but it wasn’t a major inconvenience.

Brilliant location and facilities, fantastic host!

The location was in the centre of the town and was perfect to get to places. The rooms were a good size and the decor is nice and modern.

To get to the apartment, you have to walk up 3 sets of stairs, which can be exhausting after a long day in the sun. It would also been advantageous if they had the following amenities/facilities: a microwave, washing machine, a mop and beach towels. Also, the hot water system was not great- the water would go cold after 2/3 showers so not ideal if you have more than 3 people wanting to shower around the same time.

Great location, clean, very responsive owners. apartment is updated and had all necessary amenities.

The location in the wonderfull city of Split, unfortunately we had not been informed that the square hosted a huge music festival for a week every day until 3am whose volume was so powerful that it did not allow us to speak inside the accommodation and even less to sleep there. When we said that it would have been fair to inform us that we wouldn't be able to sleep during 6 nights over 7, we were told that it was part of the tourist offer of the city! (So that without sleep or with sleep: same price) . The air con works well. Rina (the contact you won't see) is nice and probably helpless with a shameless owner.

The noise, sound system and lights of the Music Festival worthy of Eurovision until 3am during 6 nights out of 7 of our stay which, according to the cynical answer of the owner, "is part of the tourist offer" of the city. It seems that these events are frequent on this square on which I thought I would hear only the pleasant noises of the many terraces and maybe a few musicians but not such a spectacular sound system. The windows of the apartment are so small that you can't put your head through them, so you don't have a view of the sea, but you can still put your arm through them with a camera to photograph the sea ;) Nothing is planned to hang out the towels...nor your bathing suits when you come back from the beach (It makes you be inventive: doors? chairs? wardrobe? (put them in the laundry box the host told me...really? not sure) No microwave, no wine glasses or jug. On the other hand, there are an abundance of small red chips in one of the two beds as well as small insects around the toilet that can be untertaining to observe during a noisy night. Electric shocks in the shower (I was informed that an electrician had come and hadn't noticed anything!) so it is not certain that the defective installation has been repaired. Water heater for a single shower (when the accommodation is planned for 6 people) wich is not a problem if you like gold showers, after all summer is hot. The common areas are extremely dilapidated, holes in the ceiling that allow you to see the wonderfull framework (I live in an 18th century building myself in a historic area saved by Unesco, but I admit I was surprised by the serious lack of maintenance of the common areas of the building rather frightening). The roof windows are only obstructed by a light white sheet which allows perfect daylight from 6 a.m. in summer to make sure you will wake up early to enjoy your excursions.
