Location and quiet

The location was outstanding! Private and peaceful, yet smack bang between the action of the busy promenade of central Salou and all the shops, clubs and restaurants on the one side, and the gorgeous, cozy and relaxing Capellans beach on the other side. Only 2,5km walking distance from Portaventura, and on the bus route to Tarragona. The balcony was a haven with a lovely view, catching the afternoon and evening sun - perfect for sundowners! The apartment had everything we needed, and a good kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a comfortable living room area with seats for the whole family. With 4 bedrooms, there was space for everyone. It’s the ideal size for a family trip with teenagers and/or young adults. The garden and pool area is spacious, peaceful and very well kept. Thanks to Olena who was super helpful! PS it’s not a big deal to throw away the trash, loads of containers on the street!

The walls were very thin, and the matresses could be a little comfier. The furnishings are somewhat well-used, but still comfortable. It was a bit confusing that I booked with free cancellation, but had to immediately make a refundable 1/3 down payment to secure the booking.

The apartment is very nice in a great location with a beautiful view overlooking the sea and a short walk away from the town centre. It has four bedrooms. It has all the appliances you need for your holiday including a dishwasher and washing machine. The ground floor has a parking space for all the apartments. Useful if you drive to Salou or hire a car.

You have to collect the keys from Tarragona which is 10km away. Landing at Reus airport means a Taxi (32 Euro and 18 mins) to collect the keys then another taxi (21 mins and 24 Euro) to the apartment. We did ask if we could arrange something a bit more convenient and Tarraco Homes said they would look at it. We messaged again a week or so before our trip but didn’t get a response. Tarraco homes are quick to message you on WhatsApp whenever they want to get in touch, they are less efficient when it comes to responding to questions. We asked a safety question after maintenance was carried out on the gas boiler and didn’t hear back until three days later when they messaged to ask what time we would be vacating as they wanted to send the cleaner round ready for the next occupants. We visited Salou during a record breaking heatwave. One of our girls wore a t-shirt over her swimming costume and our other girl wore a rash vest (very common here in Australia) to protect against sunburn when in the pool. Almost immediately the kids were shouted at by a staff member from a distant balcony for wearing ‘clothes’ in the pool. This was quickly followed up with a WhatsApp message telling us that bathing dressed was forbidden. Explaining that we were trying to protect our kids skin during a heatwave made no difference. The bins are collected each day between 5 and 6pm from the front door of each apartment which is really convenient. On the second day of the stay, we separated our waste so it could be easily put in the appropriate bins. Later that evening when returning to the apartment, we were stopped by the maintenance man and concierge complaining about the bins. We weren’t really sure what the issue was, the next night we put all our mixed rubbish out in one bag and didn’t have them knocking at the door so can only guess they don’t do recycling and didn’t want multiple bins bags put out.

The location of the apartment is superb, over looking the sea and access to the beach and very quiet at night. The apartment is spacious with great facilities. Spacious living and dining areas, lovely veranda and big and well equipped kitchen.

You are expected to collect the keys for this apartment in Tarragona which is a 20 min bus/taxi ride away from Salou. This can be difficult to do if you don't have access to a car and you arrive with all your luggage and children. They did on request meet us at the apartment with the keys which was a relief.
