The Summerhouse, Ideal Akaroa location.

Location,- an easy walk into town, close to the sea and local walks. We arrived in a storm so naturally the garden furniture was wet and I didn't want to swim in the delightful pool. The garden was beautiful and our host was friendly knowledgeable and helpful.

The whole place was as described. This meant making a cup of tea or preparing our breakfast was short on space. We could have benefitted from some nice big mugs instead of the tea cups and a pot.

Anne, the hostess is a tremendous lady, was lovely to talk to you and get to know. She treated dislike royalty and I have never stayed in a place where someone has been so kind and helpful. I look forward to returning there one day and we recommend the summer house to all my Kiwi friends!

Great quiet beautiful location, wonderful hospitable people, very comfortable bed and lovely bedding, loved the qwerky vibe.

Kitchenware available needs updating for any kind of cooking. Kitchen area too compact, could do with some decluttering and repurpose with another bench top for use of microwave, jug and toaster. Pool not clean or sanitized for swimming. TV was not operating in the bad or good weather.

The short answer is that my hosts Anne and Jack made my stay here just the best. Their warm hospitality went well beyond my expectations. I loved the lovely linen bedding and decor as it made the cottage feel so classy. The kitchenette had all the supplies I needed for light meals over my 4 day stay too. One of the best things is location. It was an easy walk to town and all the points of interest. (Try stargazing with Luca or the exquisite tea room with Kate.) Waking up to the early morning bird song each day in this garden setting will be among my fondest memories of the Summerhouse in the garden.

It was as expected.

Location, and the pretty garden setting. The pool was nice but the area around it was dirty and untidy.

With the exception of the bed, the fixtures and fittings are tired and out dated. The congested layout made use of kitchen facilities virtually unworkable. There is no means to lock the premises so we had to carry our passports and other valuables around with us.

The Hosts weren't very informative. We weren't given any keys to the studio. The gas hobb didn't work. We put a thawed chicken in the fridge & it froze! The studio wasn't very clean & there was rubbish in a plastic bag behind the microwave that had been left there from the last occupants. I rang the host to ask if we could be upgraded to a bigger room & she advised the cottage had already been let out & was available when I booked. The cottage/cottages weren't advertised on booking.com and should have been. Definitely wasn't 4 star as advertised.
