Wonderfully central and full of character.

Ideal location. Very clean and very homely and wanted for nothing. Can wait to stay again.

The history of the building shone through. The gorgeous window seat and excellent location. This is a superb place to stay. Make sure to speak to Peter about the history of this building. There is also a lift for accessibility and close to train station for days out.

Parking - free parking areas are located within a short walk from the hotel. Immediately outside there’s ample parking for short durations. The owner kindly supplies a parking display badge that permits two hours free stay. The hotel is ideally located a few hundred yards from the main town square. An evening walk leads you through the towns history, taking in the many memorials to the fallen of WW1. Saturday morning brings the local farmers and stall holders to the town square where you can sample the many cheeses and feast like a king on the roasted meats. You won’t go hungry! The hotel has a rustic charm, beautiful and welcoming. You can choose to unwind in the garden, or as I did, sit at the window with a cup of tea, listening to the quiet chorus of the morning. Absolute bliss, no town traffic or loud music to be heard.

There was nothing to dislike. Belgium is such a clean place, no litter, such a quieter pace of life. If you want a short break, with time to just watch the world go by, Ypres and the surrounding countryside has it all. About the hotel, and it’s not a criticism, just a note of warning for anyone with any physical impairment. The hotel has a lift to some levels, as the stairs can be rather short and steep.

A warm welcome from the host, the apartment, garden are relaxing and peaceful. Comfortable bed, nice homely touches, clean, feels effortless

The kitchen worktop is a little too high, but only using a short while so not really an issue.

Het was een zeer ruim appartement, perfect en zeer rustig gelegen. Heel netjes, uitstekende bedden. ‘s avonds kon je gebruik maken van de tuin. Kortom… ideaal om als gezin dicht in het centrum te overnachten.

Lovely central location, well equipped apartment with friendly host

Everything was excellent. The owner gave clear instructions about the keys and the parking before arrival (there is a parking permit available for 2hr use for street parking outside the house), and also left a bottle of wine and some Belgian chocolates for us. The apartment was beautiful and bright, huge, peaceful and spotless. We loved falling asleep with the huge windows open onto the private garden and the fresh air. The bathroom is modern but still fits into the character property really well. The location is perfect as it's just a short walk to the main square and Menin Gate. I wish we could have stayed longer as we were very happy at the house.
