Dahlia Penthouse - Beautiful Luxurious Private Pool Fantastic Harbour Views

The property is lovely, with generous sized rooms, comfortable beds, decent showers and wonderful views. The swimming pool is not large, and certainly not deep, but is more than adequate for a cool down. The property is in an elevated position, easily accessible to the main road, the bus station and town, but is not an easy walk back from town if you are elderly or unfit; however, taxis are cheap. We walked in and taxied home on each occasion. Supermarkets are close by, and we did the first order for basic supplies by 'phone - delivered within the hour! Communication from the owner, Alan, was excellent, and Deniz, the house manager assisted when we had any issues or questions. Would definitely recommend.

The barbecue looked a little tired, and needed coals, so we decided not to use it - it wasn't ready to go! We were only a party of 2 in a 3-bed apartment and both inside and outside space were perfect for us. The outside space is a little limited, though, and might not suit a larger group of adults wanting to, for instance, eat outside.

The loungers around the pool were really comfortable, as was the bed in the master bedroom, we loved sitting on the balcony as the sun went down behind the mountains, and the location is great for the bus station (dolmus), Thursday market, and supermarket.

Unfortunately the street dogs in the scrublands around the property were a problem especially in the evening and at night. There was a pack of 8-10 dogs which were intimidating when walking to or from the property. It meant we had to go before they woke up (around the 5pm prayer call) or take a taxi. The floors could do with a deep clean. And the photos of the views from the villa need updating as it’s much more built up than shown.

The location is exceptionally good, a 5 minute walk into Kalkan Old Town. The villa feels spacious and well equipped, and the outdoor amenities are great!

For tall guests, beware of the slanted roof on the top floor! Also a small note that there are only 4 sun beds + 1 other sun bed on the master bedroom terrace. Something to bear in mind if booking for more than 4 people. We were a family of 6 however 4 sunbeds worked absolutely fine for us!

Alan’s communication was excellent. Alan was always available and helpful from the beginning to the end. The location was good, we walked to town every evening and then taxied back. The cleaners coming on Wednesday was lovely, they did an excellent job. Very spacious bedrooms. Views were lovely.

Although lovely and warm the pool size is not as large as the pictures and needs some maintenance. The BBQ was not in great condition to cook on. Kalkan due to inflation is expensive to eat out so we were looking forward to BBQs at night. There was also limited space around the pool for us to dine, which had no shade. We are a family of 4. The WIFI was fine, however we needed to keep unplugging the Android TV to get the Apps working which could be frustrating at times.

The property was perfect for our needs. All the bedrooms were spacious and 2 of the 3 had balconies with tables / sun loungers. The air conditioning was really powerful (which we needed as it was 35 degrees Celsius one day). It was clean and the pool area was brilliant. Lovely views too. Location was brilliant - 20 mins walk into town, 5 mins from the supermarket.

Only slight minor point is that the outdoor area has very little shade, apart from one umbrella which is too heavy to move, so we rarely ate outside in the day time. The house sleeps up to 6 people but there isn’t really enough room for 6 people to be comfortably outside at once.
