It was an easy 12 minute walk to Santa Apolonia train station.

The stairs were extremely steep. If you have mobility issues, or if you are carrying a large suitcase, then perhaps another location might better suit your needs.

Property was close to 2 pastelerias, good for coffee and breakfast. Also close to the marketplace.

Beds were very very hard, Chinese spring mattresses for sure, impossible to sleep on. No decent pans for cooking available, even not to boil an egg. Front street door could not be locked, which was known by the owner, but should be repaired with high priority. The roof terras is practically useless, and the seating is uncomfortable. With a small investment it could be much better and more value for money.

The property was cute and had an authentic homey vibe. There were many sleeping options and a lot of space for a family. Would be perfect for group or family with multiple children- one bedroom provided bunk beds with a double bed and a cute single mattress in a small loft area in the common area near the entry. There was no AC but (with the provided fans, large living room double terrace style doors and opening ceiling sky lights in the bedrooms) the temperature in the apartment was comfortable (the weather was sunny in the mid to low 80’s during our stay). The bathroom was large and well lit. The digital keypad for the exterior street door and apartment door were convenient. The kitchen was equipped with new appliances and a washing machine and a rooftop drying area was available with access from a door in the hallway just outside the apartment door. The area was quaint and quiet with convenient access to corner markets and cafes only 50 yards away. The small liquor store type market was open until midnight on some nights. The train station/ metro/ subway was within walking distance- well for us it was if you are limited in walking distance it is a bit… maybe a 10-15 minute walk. But Ubers and taxis are easy to arrange. The apartment is not within walking distance to the city center or other sights but only 4 subway stops away. Overall it was a nice place to stay, especially for the cost and space/ accommodations .

The building has very steep interior stairs leading to the third floor apartment, which is pretty common in Portugal- but at night and in low light periods the stairway is not lit and can be dangerous. At night coming in it was difficult to see and in the early morning hours when we left with luggage it was difficult to see and navigate getting luggage down the stairs safely. The last step coming down from the second landing to the final staircase is two-toned and blends with the landing., which caused a hazard (especially when carrying luggage or a child) as it is difficult to see. I would strongly recommend lighting in the stairway. Also, the shower door does not close all the way, leaving about a 1/4-1/2 gap- making it nearly impossible not to get water on the floor outside the shower. Again it is a hazard, as the floor is very slippery when wet and the bath mat gets very wet quickly- especially if multiple people need to shower.

A lovely apartment. Beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, everything needed for stay. Nearby mini supermarkets, bakery/cafes and great friendly tapas bar at end of street- we ate there twice. Also near buses and trains and reasonable walking distance to harbour and many attractions incluing Fado museum and Tile museum .Love the glimpse of the harbour from the little balcony and the little terrace outside. Host fantastic and flexible.

The stairs to apartment are very steep but by end of stay we were fitter from climbing hills in Lisbon! Small suggestion -the shower could do with an anti slip mat.

Great location for us, a short walk to Santa Apollonia station. Near the flea market, too. Cafes and restaurants were close by. It was a decent space for our family, impeccably clean kitchen and bathroom. And the outside terrace was a joy to start the day with coffee and wind down the day with wine, among the rooftops of the city and the sounds of birds. This place has real character and I LOVED the fact that it didn’t have the usual IKEA crockery - the glasses, pots and pans, and decor were less obvious and more deliberately chosen. It’s a small thing but helps with the charm of the place!

The traffic starts early, and for a single cobbled lane it was nevertheless a popular shortcut for cars especially in the mornings. Traffic noise is not too intrusive or jarring, just there, and won’t bother most people.
