Chalet Schönberg

Spacious chalet in beautiful village. Kitchen facilities are good. There are 7 bed! They provide game boards and puzzle for kids to play. It's easy to communicate with Mara & attentive. Perfect location for us who doesn't like touristy area. 4min walk to bus station & cruise. This area also provide few attractions that should not be missed.

Dust and few spider webs in a room and balcony. There's old & broken stuff/furniture. Would be perfect with good pillow and tv too.

We pre-booked 3 nights for an apartment in July 2022. It was around 6.30PM when we got to the location after connecting with a bus from Thun which took us to Gunten Dorf. The apartment is a very short and pleasant walk from the bus stop. Key box instructions were sent via email earlier and it was easy to do a self check-in. Apartment No.1 was on ground level so it was easy to bring the luggage in. We liked the kitchenette which was well equipped with a good size fridge and an electric kettle to make hot beverages. Nothing to complain about the rustic and serene location of Gunten set between the Swiss mountains and Lake Thun.

The bathroom was a let-down – no provision of shampoo or bath soap, no hair dryer and no proper shower cubicle (the shower curtain cannot prevent the floor from getting wet and messy). The dining table in the kitchen was very small and cramped. A mirror in the bedroom would be a plus point in addition to the one in the bathroom. We understand that the chalet is old but there was not a single European socket in the place – all were the Swiss hexagonal type. We could not charge our phones with our European-type adaptor and had to ensure all charging was completed elsewhere in public cafes and trains before returning to the apartment each night. Public transport connections were limited to the bus to Thun or to Interlaken Ost in order to catch the train. This can add up commute time.
