FLH Bairro Alto Central Apartment

Localização muito boa por facilitar o acesso ao transporte público e por possuir muitos bares/restaurantes no entorno. Perto de diversos pontos turísticos que podem ser feitos a pé. A única ressalva é que para quem deseja uma viagem mais tranquila para descanso, o local é extremamente barulhento à noite, por ser exatamente no meio da rua em que localizam os barzinhos e festas do bairro alto/chiado. Se o objetivo é uma viagem com clima mais animado e jovem para curtir, é uma excelente opção.

O acesso é um pouco difícil para quem vai com muitas malas. Possui uma escadaria bem íngreme na entrada, no acesso para o apartamento. O chuveiro estava com o suporte da ducha quebrado e dificultou um pouco a logística para o banho, mas funcionava bem. A wifi não funcionou bem em alguns momentos.

The apartment was clean and the host was very responsive. Location-wise it was quite central but I did underestimate how loud it was above the main party street. Overall good location, particularly if you are travelling alone.

I was there during a heat wave and unfortunately there is no air conditioning so it was very hot. I had read reviews about how loud the street below was but I thought it would be fine, I underestimated how loud it would be. If you are a light sleeper probably best to look for an alternative.

Little did we know that the flat is located on one of the busiest streets in Lisbon. If you’re looking for a good night’s sleep without loud music and drunk people outside, you should definitely book somewhere else. We barely slept at all the first night because of the noise, and only managed a little better after buying earplugs. Even then, it was still very difficult to sleep—not only because of the noise but also because of the uncomfortable bed and the heat. There’s no AC, and you can’t keep the windows open because of the street noise. There was a floor fan provided, but it was covered in dust and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bed was extremely hard, and there were no pillow covers for the extra pillows. The staircase leading up to the flat is very steep, so be careful when going up and down! It also smelled very unpleasant and was covered in hundreds of dead insects. The landlord could at least have cleaned this before our arrival..

L'appartamento si trova all'interno di un vecchio palazzo, le scale per raggiungerlo sono completamente storte e sporche con parecchi ragni e insetti come inquilini. Una volta entrate nell'appartamento ci siamo subito rese conto che c'era un problema con un'infestazione di insetti (probabilmente termiti). C'erano ali di insetti ovunque, sul divano, in cucina e sul letto. Erano anche ben visibili insetti neri vivi che si muovevano dentro le lenzuola e sulla biancheria da bagno. Ho subito contattato l'host che mi ha offerto di andare in un'altra struttura di loro proprietà ma fuori zona e scomoda da raggiungere con le valigie. Dovendo stare solo due notti, abbiamo quindi optato per restare in questa struttura, chiedendo la cortesia di un cambio lenzuola e biancheria entro sera (che ci è stato consegnato all'interno di una busta dell'ikea e abbiamo dovuto cambiare noi) e una pulizia della stanza programmata per il giorno successivo (che non è mai stata effettuata). Ho chiesto un rimborso per il soggiorno a causa di tutti questi disservizi e mi è stato restituito circa il 30% dell'importo. Inoltre la camera non ha aria condizionata e bisogna tenere aperte le finestre, peccato però che la strada sia molto rumorosa fino a tarda notte (è però presente un ventilatore, non sappiamo se funzionante o meno non avendolo utilizzato). Il soffione della doccia è rotto e bisogna ingegnarsi per lavarsi. Non abbiamo utilizzato la cucina, c'erano molti insetti anche lì.

Hard to say for this - the bad outweighs the good by so much that there ended up being very little we liked. In theory for what it is the property isn’t bad itself.

The location - we don’t know Lisbon so we picked somewhere that was close to our friends birthday party. Turns out the property is on one of the busiest/noisiest roads in Lisbon :( the music and shouting of people on the street doesn’t stop till about 3am so forget about trying to sleep. More should be said in the advert about how busy the road is. The stairs up to the property are a nightmare - filthy, narrow, steep, dangerous - going up and down with luggage is a mess. Doesn’t look like the stairs are literally ever cleaned. The front door get stuck when trying to get out from the inside. There’s nothing to hold to pull the door open so you end up needing to use your finger tips on anything you can get hold of just to get the door open! The shower sprays water all over the bathroom floor as the curtain isn’t very good. Also intermittently the shower doesn’t drain at all.

The property is located in the city center, which is convenient, but unfortunately it’s on one of the busiest streets full of pubs and nightlife. The noise was constant throughout the night, and I couldn’t sleep at all. While central, the location is not ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet. Personally, I didn’t find it worth it.

The stairs are terrible, maybe even worse than that if I could describe. It’s extremely inconvenient to climb up and down. With your luggage, it’s A TASK. There is a high risky of falling or losing your balance. There is no room number or a marking to even understand which is actually your apartment, it says 2nd floor but technically it’s 1 BIG floor with a breaker. The door to the house is beyond horror. It just doesn’t open from inside, there is no knob at all to hold or any grip to pull it. It’s just frustrating to get through these things before you get inside. Honestly, no major issue with the apartment but you’re so irritated by the time you are through the stairs and door that it makes the better things feel not good anymore. The check in was smooth and the host was pretty responsive too. Other than the location, I’m wouldn’t really recommend this one.
