La Tavernetta

La cosa che ci è piaciuta di più è stata la gentilezza del signor Giuseppe, che è riuscito a chiarire tutti i nostri dubbi e ad aiutarci a orientarci nel centro senza complicazioni.

It wasn’t as described. This apartment is down a flight of stairs in a basement. It is dark. The lights were totally inadequate. No natural light. It felt claustrophobic, especially as the access to the exterior seating area was back up the stairs, not straight out of the apartment door, which is the impression given in the description. The outside seating area was not as per photographs. The WiFi was intermittent and the shower kept going hot and cold. The breakfast that is included is all prepacked goods, which we didn’t eat.

Contact and advises from host. Very useful! And we liked to have some food prepared for us.

Maybe more light in the rooms or more powerful bulbs.

La Tavernetta is perfect place for a pair or a small group. Our host was friendly and gave us tips for our visit. The place itself was comfortable and spacious. There was a well-stocked kitchen for cooking and plentiful supplies for breakfast. The place also had its own parking space. The location was also great - the Old town and grocery store were close to the place... All this and even more for a reasonable price!

Washing machine not easy to use. A microwave would have been nice. Still we had everything we needed.

Breakfast and more was supplied. Bus stop right outside property and buses run every half hour so easy to get into Matera. We arrived late at night, Nino had agreed to pick us up at the airport (at a cost of course) and brought us to the apartment. This made things very easy as we did not have to find a taxi and there was no messing around trying to find the property. As our arrival was late at night - flight came in at 23:45 - Nino had very kindly supplied a platter of food for our arrival. There were a lot of leaflets in English or Italian of places to visit. Tea and good coffee was supplied as well as milk. Nino’s parents live upstairs and his dad was very helpful not only with places to visit, eat and offering to give us lifts into Matera, but he also insisted on taking us to collect our hire car which turned out to be hard to get to by bus or getting a taxi, so we were very grateful for that (he would not accept any payment). Washing products were supplied - for pots - for showering and washing - for washing cloths. All in all the best place we have stopped at so far with regards to hospitality, apartment and location. We would definitely recommend this place and we would certainly stay there if we visited the south of Italy again. Many thanks to Nino and his dad

Absolutely nothing - Everything was perfect.

The hosts were outstanding, very kind and always trying to help us with every need or request. Nino and his dad did above and beyond to make our stay in Matera an unforgettable experience.

The wifi connection was a bit inconsistent and could be improved in the future.
