Excellent accommodation very comfortable and in a fantastic location, a beautiful quiet little street only a few yards from the main walkway around the walls and to the caves. Although we did not meet the owner, the communication for access and free parking was first rate.

Our host was very helpful and shared his knowledge and love Matera. The accommodation was in a great locations and very comfortable.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. The only suggestion would be the addition of a toaster.

Excellent! 10 out of 10 Not only the stay is perfect, we are right at the Sassi. There are all kind of restaurants with a short walking distance. We were pampered with all kind of amenities that you can think of at our stay. On top of it, the hosts are super friendly , friendly and picked us up when our bus arrived late at night!

I liked everything about it. We arrived an hour earlier than was the deal but the host still arrived in a few minutes to greet us at the parking lot and freed up a parking spot for us. He didn't speak English but went to great lengths to still translate everything through a voice translator so we managed to communicate just fine. He was so genuine and kind, helped us carry our bags while we walked to the apartment (it's a 5min walk from the parking lot), took that time to talk about the interesting history of the city and showed us an amazing veiw of it less than a minute from the apartment. We also got a map of the attractions and a few of his recommended restaurants. During our stay, all texting was done through his son who speaks very good English and was very nice to us as well. The apartment itself is probably the most charming place I've ever stayed at. Yes, the stairs are a bit uncomfortable to navigate and yes the bathroom ceiling isn't made for tall people - I'm 6 feet/183cm tall and I banged my head against the ceiling light multiple times and my boyfriend couldn't even stand straight inside the bathroom without ducking his head a bit; but none of that made us love the place any less, if anything it added to its charm. To have such an incredibly furnished place that unites modern decor with beautiful old architecture all to yourself inside the old town and on top of that have your car parked close by felt like a luxury. I would return to this place annually. Matera is breathtaking.

We were met by the host in a local car park where we were able to park for free during our stay. He kindly helped us with our cases to the apartment, which was ideally placed to explore Matera. The lounge and kitchen area were nice. The bed itself was quite comfortable and spacious.

The bathroom was poor, with very bad water pressure and inconsistent heating as the boiler kept turning itself off. The shower was also mouldy on the walls and ceiling which was a shame. We hoped there would be a proper bed downstairs (as the photos show) but this was a sofabed. Unfortunately the stairs were difficult for me at night to get to the bathroom.

The property was around the corner from the Sasso Caveoso and being able to just "pop out" to see the view there and across to the Murgia park at different times of the day was awesome. And when the big window was shut, the place was totally sound proof. It was a very quiet neighborhood, but the birds were very happy and chirpy. :). The space was very modern and had everything we needed. It is a 3-minute walk into town. There was a supermarket very close by. The free parking was like gold in Matera. To have it be so close and easy to navigate into and out of the town was fantastic.

Double check the address and connect with the host one day in advance. The address listed on the website is where the apartment is located but we actually are supposed to meet him at the free parking lot which is nearby (but needed different address to navigate to properly) and that wasn't clear to us. I was fine with this but people should be aware of this if this applies to them: Tall people should be aware that you have to remember to duck before entering the bathroom and it's somewhat inevitable that you will forget... The narrow spiral staircase to the loft is cool but if you are someone who gets up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, this may not be the place for you.
