Shinsetsu

The apartment was close to a ton of restaurants, shops, and a combini. The beds were comfy, tall ceilings were a plus. Lots of natural light in the unit. The kitchen was well appointed. It was great to have 2 bathroom sinks to get ready.

While it was technically very close to Grand Hirafu base, the 20 minute walk to the gondola was entirely uphill. We were gassed before we even started snowboarding. The steps leading to the bedrooms and bathroom were slippery and very steep, we did not feel safe going up and down. No elevator so you have to lug your luggage up and down steep steps up to the 2nd floor unit and up the death trap stairs within the unit. The living room would smell of kerosene and the staff had no explanation for it, but provided an air purifier. The toilet did not have a bidet which was unusual for Japan. The pillows on the couch had questionable stains. Finally, the unit was so HOT. No matter what heat setting we tried, we could not get to a comfortable temperature.

Beds were exceptionally comfortable! Highly valued the laundry facilities!

The location was perfect. Just a few blocks from the bustling main street in town but far enough away from that street that the apartment was still relatively quiet. I also liked that the two bedrooms were separated from each other each with its own bathroom. Great privacy!

One of the bedrooms smelled vaguely of kerosene coming in from the outside. We told the host and he said there wasn't anything he could do about it. I would like there to have been luggage racks so I wouldn't have to put my suitcase on the floor.

The apartment is spacious. It had all the required amenities. There was also a washing machine which is convenient. Also there is a separate storage to put your skis. The location was great, walking distance from the center.

Unfortunately the toilet doesn’t have a bidet which is standard and expected in Japan. Also there’s no lift in the apartment so we had to take our luggage up the stairs to the 3rd floor.

Beautiful apartment in a lovely street, close to supermarket, food trucks, restaurants and bus stop. Very relaxing to hang in after a long, cold day on the slopes! Netflix and Prime were appreciated. Apartment had everything we needed.
