Pilot House - Village Marina

This is one of the apartments in the marina area. It is a beautiful apartment,super clean with lots of little extras. Coffee, tea,oil salt .Plenty of extra towels, etc. Great view over the formosa with the afternoon sun. Also appreciated the shopping trolley for carrying back from the supermarket. Lovely owner, I would definitely recommend it and hopefully be back.

Absolutely nothing, it was fantastic apartment.

Lucia was an excellent host and catered to our every needs.The apartment was very well equipped for self catering. I really liked the extras such as beach umbrella and mats etc.

Beds and pillows were a little bit firm, however this is personal taste.

Convenient, everything on hand as described and liked balcony with glimpse of sea view and mixture of light and shade, also seemed a quite quiet location within walking distance (10 mins?) of market but a bit further to the port (for island ferries). Washing machine was useful too.

On arrival, slight problem as address of the property had changed from the one on booking.com website, although Lucia had messaged beforehand the correct address but didn’t make it clear that this was a different / new address from one on website. The lifts were erratic (touch screen technology).

The hosts were wonderful and kind - our flight was due in at Faro at 23.20 hours but was delayed by 2 hours, the hosts waited until after 2 am for us - and kindly bought us groceries so that we had something to eat and drink. They were so kind and helpful, it was very much appreciated. The apartment is a few minutes walk to Olhao centre and is a couple of minutes walk to the salt plains - where you can walk around and see the stunning birdlife - fancy watching flamingoes on your morning walk! One thing I should point out - the doors to all the apartment blocks are numbered twice and the old numbers have not been removed- it is very confusing - look for the silver number in the centre above the door - ignore the number/signs to the left of the top of the doors - they are the old ones. The apartment is spotlessly clean (I am fussy!) and has everything you need - tea, coffee pods, toilet paper, dishwasher/washing machine tablets, soap, plenty of towels, and a change of bedlinen etc. Pool on the roof is great as is watching the sunset there too. If you fancy helping the local dog pound you can walk the dogs at 9.30 am on a Wednesday and Friday morning - meet at the pound and walk the dogs around the salt flats, go under the main road bridge at the back of the Marina Village (on the back way to Lidl). We found an excellent restaurant in Olhao, up an alleyway opposite the fish/veg market- it is called Gallo/or Galo, I heartedly recommend it, we had the best meal ever in the Algarve. They are very allergy aware and kindly swapped items so I could eat their menu. I hope this helps folk choose where to eat, it has no link to the apartment, (I think!) We went to Olhao in mid March and the weather was great - two weeks of glorious sunshine!

Great location- easy access to Ria Formosa, fabulous restaurants, Apartment balcony has lovely view. Lovely hosts. Friendly & informative. Can’t wait to return.
