Tavira Lovers - City Centre Apartments

Very well located in the heart of the town, just 1 row over from the river. Well equipped with external balcony and shared terrace.

There are @50 steps to go upto / down from the apartment. This was not an issue for me, but could prevent a challenge to anyone with even minor mobility issues

Si eres mayor hay bastantes escaleras y la zona es peatonal por lo que hay que cargar con el equipaje bastante. La ducha y el aire acondicionado del salón continúa sin funcionar.

Midden in centrum. Parkeren gratis op 7 minuten lopen. Zeer ruim met groot overdekt terras. Luxe uitstraling. Keuken alles aanwezig. Zeer vriendelijk aan telefoon. Makkelijk telefonisch bereikbaar.

It was spacious and a very good location. Nice balcony and Kitchen was stocked well + washing machine

- Shower! Shower was tricky to work with. The water was getting cold very quickly. It was getting very hot and then very cold. - People from next apartment’s balcony could easily look into our place. And the balcony was not clean The air conditioner also requires service.

Where to start? Well, firstly a few positives. The location was very good, close to a lot of restaurants and just across the river from the old town. Intrinsically the apartment was what we expected inasmuch as it has two separate bedrooms, a kitchenette/living room, and a bathroom. In terms of the kitchen there was a decent fridge, a washing machine and we we assume a functioning hob (I was on hols so cooking wasn't on my agenda) plus a pretty good coffee machine along with some filter papers. Similarly, the aircon in both bedrooms worked well, but sadly the aircon in the main area was woefully ineffective. The apartment is accessed via a lot of stairs and there is no lift. Not an issue as I had my son to assist, but for anyone a little frail as I am nowadays, it could be a problem. There were two terraces. One seemed to be a shared facility with the neighbours so we didn't use it, but the second was a private area of decent proportions, and we could sit there with a beer or a glass of wine most nights without having to worry about disturbing anyone although some better furniture would have been appreciated. Oh, and the WIFI was very good though needed a booster at the far end of the apartment.

Again, where do I begin? The best way to describe the place is "tired" although in need of TLC and a refurbishment might be a more accurate description. One of the bedroom door knobs was broken and kept coming off. Not a major issue during the day but made quite a noise at night if getting up to use the toilet. NB. Didn't think to pack any Allen keys! Although functional, one of the shelves in the fridge was secured with Gaffa tape, there was no coffee, no washing liquid nor fabric conditioner (we purchased the latter two and left them for the next guests). There was little washing up liquid and no sink plugs, only 2 smallish bath towels for our 5 day stay, but they did at least provide a drying rack and 8 clothes pegs, which was a challenge. However the shower itself took some managing. The boiler is powered from a remote gas cylinder sat outside of the bathroom on the terrace, so the temperature moves from cryogenic stasis to flaying the skin off your back levels with alarming regularity, & in the interests of self preservation, we realised that the best bet was to listen for the boiler to kick-in and then judge the thirty second sweet-spot to get under the shower itself. Also, the shower tray sagged alarmingly in the middle which indicates some of the reinforcement below must have come adrift. The aircon vent pipe seems to run straight onto the terrace, and some of the cutlery and crockery was initially dirty which indicated that cleaning needs more attention, assuming cleaners had of course been in before we arrived. In terms of accessing the property, I was sent the access codes and instructions from the hosts. However we heard nothing more during our stay (not even to ask how we were getting on) so when we left, I simply reversed the original instructions and hoped for the best. Not ideal & we left the rubbish as no idea what to do with it.

I love this flat. It is my second time here and we stayed with the whole family. The energy is good, the owner friendly and helpfull, the location incredible. It feels spacious and organized. The balcony is hugh...All is there what you need. And dont forget: it is walking distance to the ferry (5 min). this is a super plus!
