Bokrivier Cottages

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Bokrivier Cottages! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in nature, the scenery is simply breathtaking. The accommodation was spotless, perfectly clean, and exactly as expected. Although we only stayed for one night, it was more than enough to convince us to return for a longer stay. We really enjoyed the hot tub!

Everything was perfect, so nothing not to like.

The Kol Kol is a big hit. Super special location and great stay.

First and foremost, the setting is magnificent with beautiful views and a spacious enclosed grass area around the property. A walk around the property and a trip to the dam was definitely worth it but it does require a car with high ground clearance. The beds were comfortable and roomy. A kolkol hottub is always a nice addition. Hot water system was great, plenty of hot water (sometimes closer to boiling) and pressure from the shower/taps was excellent for a farmhouse. Good to have both outdoor and indoor dining options depending on the weather. Braai was big but could have used a few more grids. SMEG large oven and gas hob was a definite plus. We didn't use the outdoor shower but it looked very nice.

Despite the oven/stove, the rest of the cutlery and crockery were neither enough to cater for 8 people nor of the quality you'd expect given the cost of the unit. The unit wasn't serviced at all during our stay and we spent alot of time washing up after each meal without a dishwasher. There was no curtain over the door to the outside from our bedroom at all and we had to make a plan to ensure we weren't disturbed by the light coming in. We knew and expected a bit of wildlife, critters, insects coming into our unit being on a farm, however, one thing which we didn't expect was the vast amount of bees that found their way into our unit particularly after breakfast. My son was stung which was a pity and I would avoid completely if you are allergic to bee stings. Whilst a hammock was advertised on the webpage, one wasn't provided on the property. Walls and door were pretty thin, so sound carried all over the house. Overall, it didn't feel that the cost of the unit was matched with the quality of the experience.

Beautiful location

I booked for 3 people however only the queen bed in the bedroom was made. Third single bed in the living room had no duvet or pillow. It was warm in the room and the fan settings did not work well (medium setting fan barely did anything and high setting was super noisy) so decided to sleep without fan getting quite hot.

Location was fabulous as we were tucked away behind trees and had views of mountains all around. Cottage quaint and comfortable.

Absolute bliss for the soul. Such a beautiful little cottage and the location is surreal
