Beautiful apartment with a wonderful view of the island. The owner was so kind that at my request he brought us light blankets, because it was hot under ours. The apartment is a five-minute walk from the city center. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils.

The mosquitoes were a real nuisance. It was horrible. They made life impossible for you either in the apartment or on the veranda. I would like to advise the owner to buy electric mosquito traps for the street and fumigators for each room. It would also be nice to have toothpaste, shampoo and shower gel in the bathrooms.

We absolutely LOVEd our stay here! The place is very spacious! It is a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city. The pool is an added bonus! I highly recommend. :)

Location was central

Large space but uncomfortable with infestation of ants in kitchen, shower room and lounge. Broken patio windows allowed further insects to enter. 5 empty mosquito plugs and ant spray in cupboard. Hard beds, minimal bedding and broken furniture. We were met by 2 agents from ‘Amazing Madeira’ who told us to wait in an outside lobby which we did for 15 minutes. It smelt of spray when we were allowed in.The agent took some time to get the tv to work. We never achieved it. We were sent the mandatory SEF form by ‘Amazing Madeira’ but were unable to access it and requested a different format which we completed once received. We were informed by them that we were ‘illegally in Portuguese territory’ . We had to contact three official departments to voice our concerns. The apartment is described as ‘ground floor’ but because it is on an incline it still has to be accessed by a lift. As the lifts did not always work this necessitated walking down 2 flights of indoor stairs or outside stone steps. We could not find an easier way. The lounge was not a relaxing space as there were no side lamps, only a harsh overhead light and coupled with the blast of air from the broken patio doors made it uncomfortable. The window grills were stiff and hard to open making the apartment dark. We complained to ‘Amazing Madeira’ who admitted that they had received prior complaints but that the owner had failed to rectify the problems. For example the ants have been a long term problem ‘not occasional’ . It certainly is not pleasant to have them crawling all over the kitchen nor to have to breathe in insecticide. We are surprised that knowing the longstanding defects of this apartment that the agents should want to continue to represent the owner who appears to be uncontactable. No doubt they will have a defensive response to these complaints which were voiced at the time. We have spent 7 happy Christmases and New Years in Madeira and luckily we found good alternative accommodation this time.

No air conditioning.no moscitos net in the windows (we were all bitten by mosquitoes), no dishwasher, no dedicated parking space (both were offered in the adertisment, but no compensation was given) - so we had to waste quite some time for dishing and looking for parking space (sometimes few streets away).

Our welcome to the property was very nice and helpful when we arrived. Lovely to have the swimming pool and the living area was nice.

It was very warm when we visited and although it wasn't advertised with air-conditioning, a fan would have been helpful as we struggled to sleep in the heat in the apartment. We were told the building had recently been flooded and there was a dehumidifier in the property putting out hot air. We were informed that the dishwasher had just broken, which we already knew from previous reviews it had been broken for quite a long time and was not being fixed anytime soon. There was also a toilet running issue which created a lot of noise and again we were told this was a new issue that would be fixed after we left in order not to disrupt our stay, but we can see from previous reviews that it is an ongoing issue the owners have not dealt with. These items combined to make our stay less than enjoyable.
