Check in was a disaster. We arrived in Champex at 1.30pm after hiking TMB. We were told to return at 4pm to check in, which was fine. On return at 4pm the staff member took our payment and ID. She told us to wait 5 minutes. We then saw her run up the hill. We waited in the bar for 50minutes and had no contact from staff until we sought out another staff member. She told us to follow her. We went up to the apartments and staff (including the lady who checked us in) were still cleaning the rooms. We heard them say in French that they had already allocated our room to another couple. Unfortunately for them I understand French and heard everything they said. We finally gained access to our room at 4.55pm. There was zero communication from staff throughout this ordeal. We had been hiking all morning and after paying a frankly ridiculous price for this unit (€260) the late check in and lack of communication was totally unacceptable. We never received an apology from staff. We received the room with a wet floor that had just been mopped. The easy way for staff to fix this is to simply say to us at 4pm when they took our payment “sorry we are running 45mins behind with cleaning today, would you like a complimentary drink while you wait” Don’t spend your money here in Champex.

Great location. Wonderful view. Nice room with kitchenette.

I always like to be able to make a cup of tea in my room. Great if hotel could provide a wee jug of milk :)
