Marias sea cottage

Very clean apartment,nice and helpful host,amazing location,only problems we might think of are noises,but mostly from the wind(close to ocean I quess and pretty windy weather) and not enough warm water in the bathroom’s sink,that’s all :)

I had an absolutely wonderful time during my 5-night stay (26th–31st December) at this beautiful apartment in Funchal. Nestled in the heart of the hotel district, it’s surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants, so there’s no need to venture to the Old Town unless you really want to. The host was fantastic—very communicative and provided clear instructions for picking up the keys, making check-in a breeze. The apartment was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully furnished, with a lovely small balcony offering a view of the sea. Although the weather was warm during my stay, I can only imagine how delightful it would be to watch the summer sunsets with a drink in hand. The nearby grocery store, just a two-minute walk up the hill, made it easy to grab essentials. A stroll down the hill leads you along the picturesque coastline to the Old Town, passing sights like the Cristiano Ronaldo Museum, ships in the harbour, and the lively Christmas festivities that added to the magic of my trip. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with a cosy blanket provided for chillier nights. The modern apartment block felt private and secure, with ample towels and always piping hot water. The fast, reliable Wi-Fi made staying connected effortless, and the abundance of power points was a nice touch. I also appreciated the variety of TV channels, including Sky News, which helped me stay updated on events back home. Although I didn’t use the parking, taxis were inexpensive, and walking around the area was both enjoyable and healthy. Madeira is such a stunning island, and this apartment made my visit even more memorable. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip. Absolutely nothing at all. I would return again in a heartbeat. This was my second Christmas trip to Madeira but there is always so much to do and see, thus ensuring there is an excuse to return !!

The location is in walking distance to the Lido and the city center as well. Very clean and nice apartment. Easy communication with the host.

There was a lot of noise all Saturday night made by drunk people.

It was clean and tastefully decorated. It has an underground parking place. Close to bars and retaurants, approx 25 minute walk to Funchal Old Town. OK for a few nights stop over. Funchal is wonderful at Christmas.

Nothing at all provided. Remnant of a toilet roll. No more. No bin bags Empty carton of laundry pods. No hand soap Not even a tea bag No small pans - can't even boil an egg. Conversation can be heard from within other apartments, and a lot of noise from busy road outside at night. Arrived after 10pm, Had to wait until 9am next morning to buy water and basic essentials. Not beach front; as much as it is not a cottage. Very small balcony, over busy main street, virtually touching next door. One chair; if you think it appeals enough to sit out. Small queen size bed, not as large as a double. Asked host for toilet rolls and laundry pods. Promised next day - didn't arrive. Text again, and they were left the following day. Bonus was we got a second set of towels. The apartment is dark. No windows to main living space. Secondary light through bath room and bedroom window. No outside space. First aid kit, was needed. No plasters and scissors in two pieces. We paid to stay for two weeks. We left after 4 nights. We abandoned it, booked other accommodation for a fraction of the cost and enjoyed the rest of our holiday. No response from host.
