"Disappointing and never will return"

Checking in was horrific and lucky I had a friend with me to call the owner as I never had airtime for USA. I couldnt enter the Unit as codes were wrong for the side gate and never received the right one so my friend had to scale the fence, when we located the key it never fitted into the front door so could never use it, Code for the backdoor never worked so had to only use the key, remote for the gate also never worked so had to go to office at the building for them to reprogram it. To top it all off when finally we were able to enter Unit it was freezing as the Air Conditioner never worked and the extreme cold front had hit Houston so had to wait for the Maintenance Manager to come and replace the Unit. The Microwave handle was broken and taped so couldnt use the handle to open it, some globes werent working. Added to my frustration I had requested a early check-in and to my dismay I was told the only way to get an early check-in was transferring $60 for the it which I did as couldnt sit and wait in the cold. At end of my stay requested 1 hour late check out and was told again to transfer money which I politely refused and left. It was the most disappointing Unit I have ever stayed at in Houston and will not be using that rental accommodation again.

Apartment was spacious and comfortable and was quiet through the day and evening. The apartment was well appointed with all the facilities required.

There were some minor damages which should have been picked up and rectified between changes of renter but these were not detrimental to the stay at the apartment. The host was not friendly or helpful and was difficult to contact and did not pick up on mobile calls and the E mails sent by the host through Booking.com were not helpful. It was difficult to contact the host to arrange for the pick up of keys and since I was travelling for 18 hrs from overseas it was impossible for me to receive the keypad codes or get details for the entry. I was fortunate I had a relative in Houston who was able to gain access but they also had difficulty contacting the host who appeared disinterested and unhelpful. In the event the keypad did not work for the entire holiday and the key for the door to the car park had to be used. The request for a key for the door to the hall to get ready access to the gym, reception and pool was refused by the host who stated I could just walk around the building (there were thunderstorms and rain and the reception door was only open for business hours). In summary it is difficult to understand why a host would not try to be friendly and helpful to a guest to make their stay more pleasant.
