Scandic Apartments - Old Town

Good location close to the old town.

I arrived at the property after midnight on my first night with the access code to enter. On entry the room had not been changed from the prior guest. No clean bedding or towels and rubbish by the bin. It was too late to do anything. They did sort it out the next day but it was not a good start to my trip.

I usually book highly rated properties and they usually meet or exceed my expectations. This one was also highly rated but the experience did not live up to it. First, the good. It is located in a quiet street close to some excellent restaurants and downtown. The mattress was comfortable. Check in was easy with a lockbox on the door and easy instructions in an email.

Once I entered the place, it did not look remotely like what I saw in the pictures. It's drab and dilapidated. A huge light fixture above the bed was yanked out by a previous guest and dangled dangerously above my head. There was no shampoo or soap in the bathroom and the towels were grey and disgustingly worn just like the bedding. It was definitely not clean with quite a bit of dust and pubic hair from previous guests. There is a kitchen but in the absence of any basic kitchen gadgets except a corkscrew (no spatula, can opener, wooden spoon) you can't do much more than boiling some water or put a piece of bread on a plate. There was no kitchen towel or even some paper towels. One of the door keys did not work. Internet did not work for several days. The host communicates very poorly. If he responds at all, it is one or more days later. To go to the apartment, you have to enter a main entrance which uses an electronic key code to get in. Several times when I entered the main entrance, shady people were waiting for me to enter and try to slip into the building with me. I had booked for almost a week but left early. I do not recommend this apartment or host at all. One of my worst experiences on this platform.

Great location, nice clean room. Had everything I needed for a short stay.
