Casuzza Ballarò

This is the perfect place to visit Palermo. It is super close to the Ballaro Market and quite a few monuments such as the Cathedral. The place is very confortable and even though the street can be noisy at times, you cannot hear a thing inside ! The owners are very nice, they even came to get me at the airport (for a very small fee) as my plane was landing late at night. Many useful tips as well :)

Communicating with the host and arranging a key pickup was easy. The host was pleasant, easy to contact, and responsive. The place was spotless, with a comfy bed, clean sheets, and enough pillows. The location is perfect: easy to go anywhere in the historical part of the city, and a great small tavern in front. There is air conditioning, which is functional and helps to cool the place down.

The place is basic, which is OK since there is everything (more or less) one needs. But, the bigger problem is that it has no windows or outdoor space. It is not an apartment but rather an improvised space turned into accommodation for tourists. The bathroom is improvised and functional, but it is not really what is needed for a stay longer than one or two nights. There is a strange smell in the house, humidity or something else (could also be due to the fact that it is on the ground floor), but the perfume the owner puts in makes it even worse. Overall, it is too expensive for what it is. If you are ready to pay for the location, it is OK, but even then, it is possible to find smth with windows and fresh air.

This little apartment is in a great location within easy walk to the Cathedral and other attractions. There is a bakery with general supplies on the corner and a lovely wine shop within 5 minutes. The host is always available on WhatsApp with helpful information and cares about your stay. We arranged pick up and drop off at the Airport by the host for a small fee which saved us a lot of hassle. Definitely one for those who want to experience a real stay in Palermo.

The place is in need of some basic maintenance (especially the toilet seat!), & refreshment, as its beginning to look scruffy - the tile paint is chipped & the wallpaper is beginning to peel off. There is no view - you are very closed in. Noisy building work going on next door. I didn't feel safe walking in the area at night. I wouldn't recommend it for a solo female traveller.

My first impression which turned out to be wrong.

Clean and spacious, conveniently located for the centre. Silvana, the owner was lovely, great communication and always available to help and provide recruitment

The area is quite noisy at night, even if the flat is double glazed

Extremely friendly host. Great location, just next to the market, no more than 5 minutes to supermarkets, shopping streets, main attractions. Big accommodation, well equipped.
