A bunch of scammers. Weekend of May 30, 2026. The hotel was paid for with my credit card. They sent me a message claiming that my card had been declined — which was a lie, because the charge appeared on both my credit card statement and my bank account. Booking.com even confirmed that the payment had gone through. They then asked what time I would be arriving. I confirmed my arrival time, and they told me everything was fine, except that I would need to pay an additional €30 upon arrival. I said that was no problem. Half an hour later, they cancelled my reservation, claiming that my card had failed, even though it was active and working perfectly. They also claimed they had been unable to charge the additional €30, despite the fact that the card was functioning correctly. Their excuse was that, because I had supposedly not provided an arrival time, they wanted to charge the extra amount before I arrived and therefore cancelled the reservation. Clearly, the real reason was that it was the weekend of the final, and they could charge much more money to someone else. They cancelled my booking just three hours before my flight, so they could probably resell the apartment for three times the price. What makes it even worse is Booking.com’s response. They told me to deal with the property directly, and that since the accommodation provider had cancelled the reservation, they would not relocate me. Instead, they told me to find another place myself and pay the price difference. Absolutely disgraceful. A bunch of scammers.
