Sofia's House

We spent three nice days at Sofia's house. There was everything we needed, we felt like at home. The hosts were very kind, every morning a little surprise waited us at the door. The house was very quiet and perfectly clean. Parking at the nearby church. Zakros is a lovely village with some good tavernas and shops. We drove around by car, near Zakros you can find very beautiful, we could even say one of the most beautiful beaches during our three-week trip. We would definitely stay there again. The house is perfect and has everything you need for a pleasant stay in the area. Nikos and Maria very generously left us sweet treats made by Maria and other food in the fridge, and also brought over pastries still hot over the next couple of days! It was our son's birthday and we came home to hot cheese pastries with a note to wish him happy birthday. They really go over and above to make you feel welcome!

The property was in a central location in the small quiet town of Zakros. There are lovely beaches a short drive away. The house was very clean and the facilities were good. The Kitchen had everything you needed. Nikos was an excellent host- he brought us lots of traditional Cretan food cooked by his wife Maria. We felt very welcome and cared for. The bathroom has a lovely big shower with plenty of hot water. There is a nice little seating area outside .We would definitely stay here again. Nikos and Maria have taken great care to make visitors welcome and comfortable.

There was no air conditioning but there were fans in the living area and both bedrooms. Sometimes is was a little hot but it wasn’t a big problem. I couldn’t get the washing machine to spin but that may have been me not understanding how to work it.

Made us feel like part of the community. Unbelievable generosity of hosts and other community members. Lovely small town. Felt very safe. Close to the town square but tucked away in a quiet corner.

Sofia's house is perfectly located to reach Kato Zakros and Xerocampos in about 15 minutes by car. The apartment is really big, super clean, with all the things you may need. Hour host brought us fruit and sweets to taste in the morning, which was really kind. Visibility of the stars by night in the surroundings (despite being in the village) is a bonus.
