La Via del Mare - Acireale Centro storico

Very nice apartment in the centre of Acireale. We chose this town because it is a short drive to most sites we wanted to visit. It is a short walk to the main road where shops and restaurants can be found. Our host gave us all the information we needed beforehand, so our check-in was very smooth. They also provided us with recommendations about where to eat or how to reach the seaside. The apartment had everything we needed, even some welcome snacks that the kids loved. Thank you very much.

It is a bit tricky to reach the apartment because the roads are very narrow and parking is limited. However, there is a handy car park a few minutes away which we used during our stay.

Location was superb - 200 meters away from piazza duomo, 5 minutes by car to autostrada, 2 minutes walk to free public parking. Supermarket a few steps away.

Nothing to do with the property or the owner. Etna erupted the day before and there were some disruptions and some extra ashes. Otherwise superb.

Everything was perfect at La Via del Mare (apartment no.2). The apartment was very clean, very well equipped, and a lovely basket of essentials (and refreshments in the fridge) on arrival. The two bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious with much needed aircon! Blackout shutters in both rooms were really helpful with two young children. All essential facilities in the kitchen and around the apartment were provided which made for an easy home-from-home stay. Super water pressure in the upstairs shower, nice quick filling bath downstairs with no water temperature issues. Not too many trinkets and breakables like other apartments seem to have, which made the stay with kids so much more relaxing. The apartment is in a lovely and mostly quiet part of the city to explore from, but just a few minutes walk from the central piazza and local cafes/shops/views. Within 10 minutes you can be at the chiazzette for a scenic (but steep) walk down to the harbour town of Santa Maria la Scala. The information provided by our host Vera before our stay was excellent, and she gave us some excellent recommendations for cafes and trattorias. She checked on us via text during our visit but it never at all felt intrusive. The absolute best bit of the apartment is the roof terrace with gorgeous views of the sea. It was so much bigger than the photos showed, and we spent most of our time there when we weren’t out eating Sicilian granita, brioche and pizza! We would love to come back and stay again.
