Apartment in Famara Beach

Worst experience we ever had with an apartment (and we are very frequent travellers). We met the host in front of the property and asked her to please talk in english (as mentioned on the description of the apartment in Booking) and she refused because according to her this question was impolite. Then, for some reason, after a brief discussion she did not want to let us into the apartment (although we had already paid). We were then forced to contacted Booking on how to solve the issue but were feeling so uncomfortable that we preferred to change the apartment. After 1 hour of phone calls with Booking (while waiting in our car) we were told by Booking that suddenly the host wanted us to enter the apartment and we would loose our money if we now decide not to check in. In the meantime the host went on with accusing us to be impolite (for asking her to speak in English, because only one of us spoke spanish) and she even criticised the origin of one of us. In the end we told Booking that we were extremely unhappy with the situation and felt mistreated and discriminated. However, we had to check in and encountered a dirty and careless apartment: we agree with previous negative comments of visitors that the place was very poorly equipped, the pillow and bed sheets were old and much used, same for the towels. Furthermore the shower had black fungi and the toilet brush was disgusting (full of pieces of paper and other material). Also the bed and furniture were full of dust (on the sides of the bed there were balls of dust). We also found insects sticking outside of the lamps, and in general the apartment had a weird old smell. We again contacted Booking and sent pictures of proof. Also when we left the apartment we took a video that we left it in exactly the same conditions as we encountered it (because we did not trust the host anymore) which was indeed needed for our proof in the end. In summary, a horrible experience that we do not recommend to anyone.

Host is very nice. If the weather ia good then it has nice balcony to sunbathe.

It was quite cold, floor were really cold.

Felt very out of the way..at end of beach away from town..nice walk along beach to town..lady got in touch via watts app that worked ..ice bungalow with upper terrace for breakfast evening drinks in bungalow complex .

Owner Margaret was bubbly & lovely - lived close by. Apartment was clean & modern. 2 min walk from the beach. Lovely view of ocean from the terrace.

20 minute walk from supermarkets & restaurants. No hot water connected to kitchen sink for some reason.
