Haus Rosa

Where to start with things my wife and I loved about Haus Rosa: the personal letter from the owner welcoming us, ease at which we could come and go, the complimentary chocolates, the appliances in the apartment (a fridge, stove, microwave, TV, great Internet, the comfy bed, a nice sized shower with great water pressure and complimentary shampoo and bodywash, and washer and dryer machine), the view of the town and Matterhorn, the location of the apartment in relation to the train stations (Zermatt, Zermatt GGB, and talstation that leads to Sunnegga etc.,), as well as the main shopping street with the Coop and restaurants, everything was just perfect about this apartment except for the lack of a fan and the slight trouble we had with the washer and dryer (read the didn't like for more details). If we ever find ourselves in Zermatt again we would be looking for Haus Rosa to stay in and we think others will greatly enjoy their stay as well!

The only 2 things I wish we didn't like and wish were different about our stay was access to a fan and instructions for the washer and dryer. We didn't want to leave the ceiling windows (which are an awesome touch) open all night in case of any bugs or rain so there was no airflow in the room. The warm temperature of the room definitely made sleeping less than ideal since there was no way to cool off. Adding a standing fan would be an amazing touch that I think everyone would enjoy or adding a screen to the windows on the ceiling may work as well but a fan would be best. The washer and dryer, while a nice touch, could use more detailed instructions. These machines are a bit different to US machines for which we are accustomed to, so we had difficulties working the machine at first which used more time than we would have liked. Basically, you have to press the numbers 1 and 2 on the box that accepts coins for the coins to actually by accepted. This part was left out of the instructions and we were super confused as to why our coins were not being accepted until we happened upon how to work it. Definitely make sure to buy detergent as well but this is stated in the instructions. For some reason also, even though we only wanted to wash our clothes for 40 minutes (the usual time we wash at home) the machine would automatically state 3.5 hours. I'm not sure why but we had to hit the "fast forward" button to skip to our desired time. The instructions do also state that if you don't have enough money your clothes will be locked in the washing machine which did happen to use briefly. Why it's designed this way I have no idea. But hopefully with the information here the next people have much less hassle than we did. Now that we know how to better work the machines, the next time we stay (whenever that may be) I'm sure it will be less of a headache.

The apartment was cozy with a kitchenette and coin- operated laundry. The location can’t be beat since it’s very close to the center of town but tucked away that it doesn’t feel crowded.

No complaints!

400m from station and 100m from supermarket and main shops. Wonderfully quiet side street. Well equipped kitchen area including a microwave /grill made self-catering easy and eating more affordable. Balcony to enjoy view of Montblanc, sipping a cold beer (from the supermarket). Advice and instructions from Aurelia were clear and helpful plus coffee machine (pods supplied) and chocolates a great surprise. Possibly the most space-efficient shower cubicle design that I have seen.

Roof lights can be opened to enable air flow in the room but there was no pole to operate them fully or to close the blinds to darken the room at nights (I am not tall!).

Great location in Zermatt, walkable from the train station, with a Matterhorn view from the balcony. We enjoyed having a kitchen to help save on meal costs, and having access to the building’s washer and dryer was a big plus. Glad we stayed here!

No negatives.

It is compact but has everything you need. The balcony is lovely. Shower was impeccably clean. Kitchen is well stocked. Overall - very comfortable.

It gets too warm on a sunny day - top floor; but all roof lights are openable which helps a lot.

Lovely small Apartment, walking distance to everything! Perfectly staffed kitchen, great bathroom!
