Comfortable, self contained 2 double beds town apartment near Pittodrie Stadium

Location was perfect for our work, Lads were very pleased with the property and the facilities.

I had no complaints. But we had an issue with check out time, the owner was very understanding. Might I suggest to Booking.com that you send 1 email on booking with all the details on, check in, check out time, owners details etc rather than 3 emails with very little detail.

The apartment is spacious and located close to the beach front and the beach boulevard with nice restaurants. It is possible to walk to city center, it took me 20 minutes to reach Union street. By taxi, the airport is only 20 minutes away. Although the apartment is on the top 3rd floor and has no elevator, the host was kind enough to help me carrying up the stairs my heavy luggage. Free wifi available, password is on the router (tip for owner: place a note with the WiFi password on the table for easy access). The kitchen is fully equipped.

The apartment needs thorough maintenance and feels icky: - The electrical fans in the house make terrible noise when on, especially in the bathrooms. - Interior has not been refurbished since the 90's or so. - Generally dirty: Walls have lot's of marks and stains. Bathroom is full of stains from humidity. Carpets are full of stains. The mattress feels old and saggy. The pillows in the bed smell bed. Generally, the place feels icky, I didn't like having to lay down in that bed. - Doorhandles of doors into bed rooms do not work: they are stuck in open position and can not hold the doors closed. - The floors are creaking terribly when you walk around, especially the kitchen. - The whole apartment has some kind of food smell. Neighbours downstairs are frying food every day and when you have a window open to cool down the rooms, it comes into the apartment. - Apartment get's very warm on warm days. - There were no dishwasher tablets available, nor shower gel or shampoo. - The cutlery and crockery look worn and not properly cleaned. All the glasses had stains and the cutlery looks not clean. I had to handwash what I wanted to use thoroughly before using as it didn't feel hygienic. - The towels and bed linnen look like they have been used many times. It wouldn't hurt to replace these with some new ones. - There isn't a place nearby where you can buy or sit down for breakfast. You need to get your own groceries from the Aldi which is 15 minutes walk. - The tv is not working properly: the channels are distorted and you can't really use it. I tried to wiggle some cables on the back of the TV but to no avail.

Proximity to town centre, undercover car parking.

Lack of cleanliness. We spent the first hour cleaning the kitchen: Sour milk and yoghurt had been left in the fridge so it was very smelly and also full of crumbs. Microwave was dirty and turntable badly chipped, an accident waiting to happen. Toaster covered in crumbs, tiny amounts of cleaning products, no tea towel, just a bath towel left on the cooker. Very little cooking equipment, no scissors. Crumbs left inside all the kitchen cupboards and the freezer. Door handles, surfaces and floors generally throughout were sticky and/or dusty. Toilets and bath mats were grimy. Carpets stained and unhoovered. We brought all of this to the owner's attention but he didn't offer to do anything about it - he just said "thanks for the feedback". This was the dirtiest accommodation I've ever stayed in.

Bed was too hard for us, and I couldn’t find any tea towels.

The staff is nice , friendly and helpful.

The appartment is in a modern building in a perfect location near to the city center as well as to the beach and the port. It is very well equipped, you can feel yourself almost at home. The owner was very flexible with handling us the key even before our check-in time. Thanks!
